ОтветитьRe-elect mayor Goldie Wilson! Progress is his middle name. Mayor Wilson's progress platform means more jobs, better education, bigger civic improvements and lower taxes! On election day, cast your vote for a proven leader...

- Guy on float being tailed by the Deltas “Deathmobile” before D-Day ordered Otter to “CUT THE CAKE!”
I love it.
ОтветитьSousa's marches all have a martial air (as they should) but they also have a lilt, a lightness, that's almost danceable. I think that's their underlying appeal--at least that's why I like 'em!
ОтветитьSheesh he was on a roll here. Cranking out hit after hit
Ответить“HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
- Hacksaw Jim Duggan
We English children of ill repute, confined, reviled, interred in a place of HM's pleasure a Childrens' Home of the 1940s-50s reputedly had this Yankee march for our occasional 'Meetings' when we marched uniformly to attend a whole school assembly where a 'Charter' was read out and reports and announcements shared to the regimented assembled lines of pristine presented children. Once assembled the imperial English 'Jerusalem' or 'Non Nobis Domine' was sung.

ОтветитьUkraїnian congratulations to the whole planet) You can treat the USA differently ... but Souza is really a strong composer in his profile. One of his best marches the planet has received.
ОтветитьWhen I was in band in high school, we played and memorized many of the Sousa marches. We played them for football games, also on the 4th of July and while marching in parades.
I loved them then and still do!
I’m legit mad that honored dead didn’t make it further
ОтветитьThis is so well thought and played. Sousa approved.
ОтветитьDoes anyone else think Monty Python just sped up a small part of this for his Flying Circus intro

ОтветитьKarl King is the true March king
ОтветитьOn one of Richard Nixon's trips to the Middle East, the band struck up this march to greet him (outside the US, they can't play "Hail to the Chief"). Apparently no one realized, or bothered to check, that the Washington Post had dug up all the dirt about Watergate.
Ответитьglad that the sheet music was there but couldn't see it.
