That call with A7 is a lot harder than it looks. Buchanan is going to be up against strong 2P, sets, Q10, or absolute air with Aldemir's preflop raise, flop bet, turn bet, and river overbet. Weaker 2P and TP hands usually would elect for a smaller sizing for thin value, or check back for showdown. Given the betting action, even though Buchanan improved to 2 pair on the river, he can essentially only beat a bluff. If A7 made the call, Aldemir would be caught bluffing with 33s. Next time, in a similar situation, he will be up against a set or Q10.
As a sidenote, Buchanan dodged elimination vs. Aldemir earlier in a set over set situation (out of position) on Day 4(the last day before the final table). He only lost about 2/3rds of his stack because he correctly sensed the strength of Aldemir's hand after calling the flop bet, check calling the turn, and check calling Aldemir's river overbet. Had he raised or bet first on any of the 3 streets, he would not even be at the final table. I'm suspecting that hand from earlier might have influenced Shawn's decision to fold rather than call in this very close spot.

i don't understand buchanan's call on the turn and then folded on the river when he made ACES up and the board didn't change. He should've just dropped out on the turn. Was he hoping Aldemir would check on the river? . Conventional wisdom says that when you have at least a pair (esp the highest pair) and you call the bet on the flop and turn, and the river card doesn't change the board, you should call on the river.
