As a Parisian I can say that of all the dishes you mentioned, the easiest to find in most bistros aka classic French restaurants, is the "Confit de canard", or "duck confit". Most French restaurants in Paris have confit de canard (though it's a South-Western dish) cause it's so easy for them to serve. Also it happens to be my favourite French dish, or maybe my favourite dish in general. Imagine a chicken leg, only it's duck, so it tastes more gamy, and the meat was slow cooked and preserved in fat for so long that you can break it down with only your fork, and it melts in your freaking mouth. Heaven

Traditionaly, you eat musseks with your hands, but you don't pick the mussel flesh with your fingers. You use another shell as a '' plier '' to do so.

Moules frites should be served with french fries AND mayonnaise.
IMHO nowadays some of the best traditional french cuisine is served in Belgium. Moules frites anyways.
Even though I had the probably best moules frites with french fries and mayonnaise in Montréal (long time ago).
When in Paris I also like restaurants with cuisine from North Africa - with also the often very good wines from there.

Im surprised you didn’t include Rognons. Veal kidneys are my favorite and when I spot them on I menu, I order!
Andouilette smells like old gym socks!
My husband’s favorite are from Ernest in Cannes. He loves andouilette. Unfortunately I cook them! Ugh!

magret OR confit as it was the same ? please. magret and confit have nothing in common except being duck parts. they are not served in the same style of restaurants, they are not cooked the same way, they are not the same kind of meal at all. one is a conforting dish from the south west, the confit, with some duck parts cooked in their own fat for a long time to preserve them. the other, the magret, is ALWAYS a duck breast, but not the usual duck breast : this is mandatory for it to be the breast of a duck for foie gras. the point is to grill it to a medium rare state with a wonderfully grilled skin oozing the duck fat. confit is a country side dish and magret is a fancy to average meal.

this is not the first time I spot things totally not on point here. je vote avec mes pieds, c'est l'unfollow.

Most of everything in this world was invented by the British, and that includes food recipes. When England invaded France centuries ago, we the British took with us pots, pans, knives and forks etc..entire kitchens were taken on the battlefields. Back then, the French were just about moving out of their dwellings, bascially caves. Of course, we hammered them on the battlefields. They, of course, surrendered. We felt an immense amount of pity on the bleeding French, so we showed them how to cook many dishes. How to use knives and forks. How to brew wines and beers. Even how to use and flush portable toilets. They didn't know what to do with soap, so we showed them how to bathe with soap and water. Even showed them how to play football, rugby and other sports. We even showed them how to make love to their women instead of chasing after wild pigs for whatever perverted fun. Oh yes, they owe us a lot.

I'm sorry but as a marseillais i have to say.

Andouillettes are basically chitterlings. People eat chitterlings in the US, People eat chitterlings in the UK. People eat chitterlings most everywhere except in muslim or jewish areas. But then they have the lamb or goat equivalent. Spain have both.

Of course you can find great food in Paris. But don't forget that, like all overly touristic places worldwide, Paris is a scammers' paradise, and that unfortunately includes some restaurants that don't hesitate to cheat and serve bland pre-prepared industrial food as French traditional cuisine. Before eating out in Paris, do check comments and recommendations on line, and generally avoid "eateries" close to the main touristic spots.

Could you do a video about shopping in French grocery stores? When I travel in Paris, I will be on a budget and generally won't be eating in restaurants very much. I'll be buying street food and food from grocery stores so I can afford to do other things on my trip. Plus I'm a vegetarian and it seems like most French cuisine is flesh based. Thanks! I'm enjoying your videos!
