I thought it was "Oden wouldn't be Oden unless it's been boiled"

Oden Roger and Whitebeard. True gods among men. Did Roger despair at his execution? Nah. He just laughed as he kicked off a new era. Was Whitebeard finally brought to his knees? Nope. Even in death he stood tall above all others. Did Oden even mind being forgotten? Nah. After all, Oden isn’t Oden unless it’s boiled.

My favorite character

Many one piece backstories were dragged out longer than they needed to be. As a result I had to force myself to finish some of them. Odens story was not one of them, he’s the only backstory in one piece that I found myself glued to the screen the entire time to see what would happen next.

Oden is honestly my favorite flashback character. He's made so many impressive feats at a young age, but wanted to see the world. That desire ultimately lead to the discovery of the One Piece, leading to the Great Pirate Era. He had seen the world, and wanted therefore to open Wano for the rest of the world. But due to betrayal and manipulation, he was killed, and Wano was doomed to 20 years of darkness. But his spirit lived on, and guided the war against Kaido.

In the end, got boiled and lived up to his name. Selfless guy.

I think my favorite part about Orochi is how he just got carried the whole way. Not once did he ever do anything himself. The other Kozukis did more than he himself did, Kaido was the one with all the strength, the real power, and Orochi did literally nothing but sit on his ass and abuse his power. His design reflects this, he's clearly inspired by a snake since that's what his Devil Fruit power is; a mythical Zoan snake. Even his teeth are meant to be snakes' fangs, except his are just big buck teeth. Blunt teeth. Orochi was a snake, but such a shit one that he didn't have any "fangs" to bite his enemies with and relied on other's power

The legendary history of Ishikawa Goemon

The crux of Oden's deal with Orochi is to humiliate the Kozuki name as penance for what happened to the rest of the Kurozumi clan. The 100 lives seals the deal with a tangible reward. It's frustrating how much that first part gets overlooked.

Some say Luffy is the greatest CHAD energy in the One Piece series. They have not met the GOAT that is Kozuki Oden. It's no wonder Yamato dedicated a distinctive third gender designation to him when they aspired to follow their own dreams to defeat their father Kaido and travel the world.

Odens Death also reminds me of the Pirate legend of Klaus Störtebeker.
It is said that he was a notorius pirate who was executed by the mayor in the year 1401. But he made a deal with the mayor before he died. He would be decapitated and all of his 70 men would be lined up. Every crewmate that he would walk past without his head would be a free man. He allegedly walked past 11 of his men before falling dead to the ground. The mayor was so angered about this that he executed all of Störtebekers men right there. The motto of the pirate crew was "Gods friend and the worlds enemy". This quote is also written on his monument in Hamburg Germany.
