Crazy how the British have made this guy a villain. If you read about him you just learn about a guy who was dealt a crappy hand physically, and had no status. Despite this he worked his tail off and became the greatest general and French ruler of all time.

Britain in reality survived so long for two reasons. 1.) Their island at the time was hard to invade. 2.) they smartly put their money in their navy. Their loss of complete power came when air battle was as important as sea battle.

Make no mistake, if Napoleon would have been raised around the time of Rome’s peak power not even Julius Cesar would have been as well known as him.

The difference in locations between his first exile and his second exile is just wild. His 1st on Elba was only 5 miles off the Italian coast. His 2nd on St. Helena, was 1,000 miles off the closet coast.. of Africa!

I disagree. Above all else, he was a master military leader. No amount of propaganda could have given him the success he had.

Tactical genius, NOT strategic one

A strategic genius who lost at the battle of the Nile, deserted his troops, lost at Waterloo, lost the peninsular campaign, saw his country invaded and died in prison!

He totally thrashed the Prussians and the English during the previous two days. Duke of Wellington's advance preparations and plans for a deployment at Waterloo prevented a total rout. On the day itself, arguably Scott Greys' off the cuff cavalry charge broke the early French momentum so the battle then dragged on till late, ending in disaster for the French.

Napoleon shattered the idea of the family monarchy, and whipped every ass that came against him. You can't win them all but statistically Napoleon is the greatest military commander the world has ever seen.
