ОтветитьHow do I solve m(2 to the nth power) =20 ... for m ? Basically what I want to know is if I take the power of 2 series {1,2,4,8 ... } and multiply it by a constant such as 5 to get {5,10,20,40 ... } and I want to do the inverse ... like I have {5,10,20,40 ... } and I want to divide it by the power of 2 series to get the constant but I don't know which power it is .. all I know is it's base. 20 / (2 to the nth power) = m . Say I know log2 20 but I don't know m or n in the product rule and I want to find m. Would I take log2 20 = y and substitute my now known y into log(2m) 20 = y to get m ? ... and if so what is the rule or formula for finding a product of a base ?

ОтветитьWhy are you not allowed to use the product property on your second solution x=-2? is it because you end up with negative numbers in the first place and are therefore not allowed to continue or is there another reason. Because in my mind I would use the product rule which would end up in log (-2)*(-4) which is log 8, in other words, a positive number.
