I was 15 at the time. Most households in 1967 had one maybe two radios, one rotor dial telephone line, and one 19" black and white TV with rabbit ear reception in the house. This is a live studio audience, and he is singing live.

You should react to the version he sang on The Voice UK with Peter Donegan who was the son of the song writer. Tom was in his 80s by that point and he is STILL spectacular.

I was going to suggest that song for you to listen - I'm glad you did! I've heard Tom Jones recordings before and he had some hits in the 60's 70's and sounded great but someday I found this video and it made me play attention, WHAT A VOICE!! and you appreciate good music and vocals.
