Red Dots vs EOTech Holographic Sights: What’s Best For You?

Buy once, cry once. Don’t make the same mistake I did… ran through a bunch of optics until i ended up with an eotech in the end anyways. I say that only If an EOTECH is what you truly want but don’t have the cash for at the moment. Just save up, it’s worth the wait.

Am I the only one who feels like holographic sights are annoyingly bulky and take up too much FoV? At least in video games where your screen space is limited

Magnifier Myth. I enjoyed your video, but my own observations seem to support what Optics Planet states about this: "There is a common myth in the gun industry that magnifiers do not work properly with red dot sights. The myth goes that putting a 3x magnifier in front of a 2 MOA red dot sight would effectively create a 6 MOA sight since the dot is 3x bigger than the target. This is not true. The magnifier makes everything you see through the red dot sight 3 times bigger, including the image and the actual reticle. Since this scaling is exactly the same across the board, you still have a 2 MOA optic. This is the same for holographic sights, as the hologram doesn’t defy the laws of physics. You can expect your reticle to scale evenly when looking through a magnifier." So is there something else to it that I'm missing? BTW, I also enjoyed you on the pen pineapple apple pen video. Joking! I actually do enjoy your quality presentation, it gave me food for thought.

Ive always wondered what the hell was going on when there was a holographic sight in front and another scope behind it that the shooter could roll it off to the side and just use the front one now i understand wtf is going on , im thinking about setting up a deer rifle with a holographic on it for the thicker scrub i hunt them in for quick off hand shots i think that might be the path I'll go down

Magnifying a red dot does not increase its MOA. Yes the dot is larger, but so is the target image. It works much like a First Focal Plane riflescope. A 2 MOA dot when magnified by 3x is still 2 MOA, it just looks bigger.

Built my rifle and a friend let me borrow a holosun rds he had laying around while I saved up for an eotech exps2 and was very pleased with the optic. The quality is definitely there. I didn’t leave the holosun on bc it was my Gucci build 😂 but I don’t see any problem with Holosjn great optics for affordable price. I would probably get one for a budget build.

Eotech $600 is cheaper than an Aimpoint T2, which 1k (not including mount).

Aimpoint pro is ok just oversized for a red dot in 2023...

Holosun is great at the 400-500 mark

Magnifying a red dot doesn’t change the MOA, as the target is also being magnified, right? The dot will be bigger, but it will cover the same amount of the target.

I’ve never had an issue with my red dot not being in focus when I’m looking at my target but now that I know that’s a thing, I’ll check very closely!

This helped a lot with me picking some sights. But I'm a vortex fan Boi I guess. Diamondback on 308, crossfire scope on a 22. Venom on 2 22 pistols. Holos on 2 ar and a crossfire red dot on a pcc cuz for some reason the holo wouldn't fit the rail. I have astigmatism so I prefer holo, but it is just a 9mm so it's not like I'm sniping with it. I like the couple eotech rings I've looked through better than vortex, but like I said. I'm a fan. Plus the reviews have said eotech doesn't really care for civilian complaints. It has all the customers it needs already.
