This is an incredibly well done intro to Macbeth and exactly what my students need in this video centric world. I show it to my students every semester and it really piques their interest. Seriously - great job! Thank you so much for this video!

Fabulous animation lifted a good precis. Only fault was the narrator's voices when the quoted passages. The attempt at a Scots accent was just cringeworthy, I'm afraid.

Macbeth teaches us an important lesson about inauthentic friends and the consequences of impulsively trusting them. Throughout the play, Macbeth's supposed friends, such as Banquo and Lady Macbeth, ultimately betray him for their own personal gain. This serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us to be wary of those who may not have our best interests at heart.

Bit salty that the “screw your heart to the sticking place and we shall not fail” line wasn’t mentioned. Also the “what, you egg” line but that was to be expected

Macbeth is the first play I'd ever seen, and no other production has ever quite hit me the same way. I first saw it when I was 12. Years later, I did some digging and found out that three of the characters are my direct ancestors. My mom's side of the family is Stuart, from Robert the Bruce's son (this is where the House of Stuart comes from). It's pretty common in the UK to have royal ancestry. However, it's still my family, and this play gave me a special connection to them.

Interesting side notes: MacBeth was Duncan's first cousin. Macbeth actually did have a son, but Malcolm killed him. Malcolm went on to marry Saint Margaret of Scotland. They were seen as having an ideal marriage. Margaret taught Malcolm how to read, and Malcolm would buy her guilded books. Their dynamic was pretty similar to Merida's parents in Brave. Margaret was actually an English royal, and more genteel, whereas Malcolm was more rough around the edges. Margaret was devoted to the poor and taught her kids to wash their feet before they ate breakfast. She also designed a bunch of welfare programs for the poor. So that's the "where they are now."

It's so interesting how Lady Macbeth seems to be the epitome of guilt in the play when in the earlier acts, she seems to encourage Macbeth to think no more of the murder of King Duncan.

I'm in theatre and I've studied the occult, so I can say: The witches' curse is just nicknames for herbs. It's most likely a bunch of neurodivergent ladies talking over herbal tea.

Try also reading about the real history of Macbeth. He was actually a successful king who reigned for 10 years. Duncan having died in battle not in bed. The Tudors had got into power through usurpation when Henry Vll beat Richard lll in battle.
