I am Filipino by birth and my mom absolutely refused for me to take nursing. She wants me to be an accountant and I am bad at math. I gave in because she is ferocious when it comes to shitting on her kids dream. She quashed my brother’s dream too. Fast forward today and yes I am now a nurse- no thanks to my mom. So I can relate. No hard feelings. His delivery is so funny that you forget the trauma— it’s like therapy for the soul for our collective trauma.

As an RN I am working many RNs who are from Philippines. I can tell you one thing , my favorite coworkers who I feel good about to have my side , majority of them during 12 hrs long shifts are from Philippines. They are focus , skilled, ready to help . I have one specific RN who is from Philippines coworker I made it clear to everyone that you mess with her you mess with me 😂. She is always there to help me and Vice versa I am always there to help her . She is pregnant now and I am always checking on her , making sure she is eating , drinking , not lifting anything heavy. ❤ Love from Turkish nurse ❤

FILlipino nurses are very friendly and helpful with all patients they have a very HUGE HEART HARD WORKING THEY KNOW HOW TO TREAT THEIR PATIENTS ❤🎉

I love Filipino RNs, two of them saved my life at Riverside county hospital. They had the common sense to get me triage fast and safe. They stayed with me the whole time until I was out of the danger zone and made sure my family stayed hopeful. Will ALWAYS be thankful for them.

My half Filipino mom was a paramedic, firewoman, and flight medic. Fucking cool, right? What did her full blood Filipino mom say? "Why the hell would you do that? Why would you run into the house on fire? Why don't you do something useful, like a secretary?"

I love all groups and cultures, but there's something wrong when parents dictate what professions their children should have. Children shouldn't have to fulfill their parent's desires, it's their lives. Tiger moms and all these parents trying to live vicariously through their kids need to grow up and let them live their lives.

I have a Filipino mom and she was a Registered Nurse for the California Dept of Corrections and Youth Authority. I did want to do that. I got my Masters in education with a California Teaching Credential. Do I teach?...no. I play bass guitar...music was always my thing and my mother discouraged me from playing any instrument by always finding me more constructive things to do. I play in two bands now and work as a Captain of Security. I served active duty in the USAF as a Wideband Communication Specialist. My mother is retired but she was a top notch nurse and took no BS.
