This is why i like so many have NO desire at all to board a cruiseliner. They treated Merrian a whole human being like dispensible garbage. These corporations make a better effort at finding a lost wallet but a person disappearing or dying has to be kept quiet because of their reputation as a business that might affect their bottom line which is making money, as long as they have your money you are dispensible.

What Mr. Carver has failed to consider, is that a particular breed of person, passing as "human beings", is not of the same ilk as himself. That breed is to be slain to extinction. By "God". Search "two seeds".

Imagine.. not even the police OR the FBI can't help. Wow . I can't even fathom the helplessness the family must have gone through. I'm so sad for this entire tragedy, my heart hurts for all.

This cruiz ship is ruthless. Just throwing her belongings away, failure to act on notifying her family, erasing video, (should be a rule to keep video for 3 months or more. They toss the blame around, no police missing persons all are signs of a coverup. Get your lawyers on this case, sue them for that ship then burn it. I'm so sorry for family and Merriam, truly heartfelt sadness.

I don't believe she took her life. Someone threw her overboard and the ship is covering up, corruption is so obvious.

One things for sure, I think it's time rethink this so called happy times on cruise ships and never seen again, and being told your love one was either fallen,or committed suicide, and even worse, they've been killed and the body is thrown overboard those are not very comfortingwords.

I will never understand people who go on vacation without telling family or coworkers where they are going. It is selfish, and unsafe. As for the cruise line in this case, it is absolutely criminal and horrible.

I still want to experience sailing on a Cruise Shio, I believe that there are safe most of the time and I guess one can also be more aware. These documentaries are helpful to make travel safer and increase security and safety measures on board. Ports must be more rigurous like airports when checking passengers prior to boarding. On board the ships, security crew must be more prepared and the crew has to care about their passengers' safety and the minimum issue must be taken care of right away. For a company, the priority must be their service to the people and that includes safety. A company that cares beyond selling promotions and what more, and actually takes time to reassure passengers that they will be safe, that is much better. A cruise is more than just the fun and thrill. It is still a vessel that has many people's lives who depend on the crew to go and return safely. Safe travels.

I hate to say it, but this lady is not worth looking for because she ran off and either didn't want to or to let her daughter know where she was going, so looking for her now is useless because she made it hard for family to track her down, and even if that lawyer did finally find her would she appreciate it?????

The supervisor of the perser or whatever his title was that went to his supervisor & said she was gone somethings up?
The supervisor did it!
Just guessing, but what kind of numbskull would disregard what the purser said & say clean the room as usual????
Fireing wasn't enough for the supervisor 🤬

Thank God 4 merrians dad 2 hold cruise ships responsible 4 every customer that disappears or is literally murdered on board their ships...demand more security and I think they need some kind of an alarm that signals when someone is themselves going over the fences around the outside of the ship or if someone is forced over...I think it should be a silent alarm...guarantee there would be less people disappearing off these ships

I have been on a lot of cruises and the cabin doors always had an internal like like the ball and loop. If there were no lock I would pin the desk chair under the door knob or something to make noise if opened from the outside.

It’s outrageous that no effort was made to investigate her disappearance and that her clothes were just disposed of. Good grief. I love cruising but this is making me realise that it’s risky. You don’t know what lowlifes might be on board, passengers or staff.

A international cruise ship is like a floating crime scene.. and people take their kids on them. People think they are safe on them..
How people are this ignorant is beyond me..
I live on an island, our crime numbers for some areas with like 100 people living there have huge crime rates bcs of what happens on the cruise ships that travel past in our waters..
Rape, murder, suicide, drugs, every violent crime you can think of..

Seems like the porter was doing a lot of coming by, and talking to her. More than needed. Especially if the a manager has to get on him about it. Sounds like the Amy story where the crew kept trying to be involved with her. I suspect the staff.

Outrageous that immediate investigation did not take place on board of that cruise ship! It is clear that the supervisor was guilty, as he told his staff to forget about Merrian's disappearance and go about their daily work tasks.
I took an Alaskan cruise once by myself (as a single woman) and felt uneasy the entire time I was on it. Never again!!!

I personally believe she committed suicide and didn't want to be found. Hence going on a cruise and jumping off it in the middle of the night. She didn't even inform her own daughter that she would be gone. Talk about a selfish woman.
