Thank you very much for showing us this unique car! 😊
ОтветитьLoved the BX.
ОтветитьGreat video, very informative, thank you!
Ответитьit looks insane tho
ОтветитьGreat presenter!
ОтветитьIt looks like it s about to fall apart.
ОтветитьA slow Group B car is still a badass car!
Ответитьconsidering they had a great 16v engine why did they decide on talbot horizon engine? those frogs have some funny ideas but to be fair in some of the stages of the monte in 86 the car seemed to be in the running so it couldve been a winner
ОтветитьEvery day I still wish I could buy a Citroen 4tc so what you think doesn’t bother me lol
ОтветитьEven my toy car version broke down
ОтветитьThis car is so wonderfully shit... I think I actually want one.
Ответитьahhh the BX. The car were I learn to drive. Diesel course, slow as hell. When was a kid I didn't realize that it was so weird, to me it was normal that the speedometer was a turning cilinder or the suspension thing. Later on I realize that it was one of a kind and I started to appreciate it more. BTW, the most comfortable car I ever driven.
ОтветитьWow that road going version looks so good now days.
Ответитьits french im not surprised at all. nice car though
Ответитьanyone explain the citroen x citroen stickers? must be a story behind that
ОтветитьIf you retire during stage, do it in comfort!
ОтветитьNice citron you have there mate. Name your price, i pay double! 🤣
ОтветитьLittle know thing about the BX, Bertone initially made the design meant for Volvo (Tundra) - but it ended up with Citroen!
ОтветитьFun and nerdy fact, the "arm" that u start the windscreen wiper with (sorry my bad English, don't know the proper word)
That's not from a BX, not from a Citroën at all (because the BX generation one doesn't have any "arms" for indicator or wiper) they used buttons..
That arm in the car is from Peugeot like 505 etc.. ☺
Citroen were hugely successful at international rallying with the DS that had hydropneumatic suspension, which beat all the conventional suspension users and was ultimately deposed by the Mini in 1960's - another suspension innovator. Hydropneumatic suspension could have been a game changer if properly developed because it offers the opportunity of suspension adjustment on the fly, a precursory to active suspension. The issue of suspension travel could have been resolved with either larger spheres and/or bigger ratio operating levers (even inboard arrangements). The main issue with the standard Citroen suspension is the damping, which is controlled at the base of the sphere but can only accommodate equal bump and rebound rates, whereas the rebound : bump ratio should be ~3:1. The Citroen ratio does give the classic soft floaty ride that it is renowned for.
Perhaps Citroen was trying to follow the lead of Audi, whose 5 cylinder CI engine was also heavier and ahead of the front axle. For rallying an imbalance of axle weights can be an advantage for car control - just ask Audi, who persisted with the front longitudinal 5 cylinder engine in their very successful Quattro Sport Group B car and then the outright record holding Pike's Peak winner. Citroen did produce a four wheel drive WRC winner around 15 years later with the Xsara that had a transverse engine and a centre diff..
There was a suspicion that too much control was given to the artistic design/marketing and less to the real engineering requirements. Had Citroen let the engineers design a space-framed mid engine vehicle it might have been cheaper rather than trying to make a winner from an unsuitable base, BL managed to do it with the revolutionary 6R4 and they were always strapped for cash.
Yes it's the car of the Acropolis rally!
On the back fenders of the car, one of the stickers of the sponsors is Greek and specifically of a well-known Greek car dealer. This sticker is clearly enabled that it entered separately from the others that were the factory sponsors. So this item is a clear proof that it is the car of the Acropolis Rally!
it looks like a lego car.
also looks like it was designed by people with no mechanic experience or creativity.
The road going car is beautiful I think. Looks straight out of Star Trek: TNG. It still looks futuristic decades later.
ОтветитьI had two BX diesel estates which I overloaded on a regular basis. Awesome cars. Sadly the last one set itself on fire due to a short circuit next to the common rail fuel line which melted and burned causing catastrophic damage under the bonnet. I did eventually manage to put the fire out with copious handfuls of long grass! I can recommend it for a diesel fire. It cooled the fire down and starved it of oxygen.
Thank you for sharing these two oddities.
Odly enough with a slight bit of a squint it looks like a stretched lancia delta intergrale evo . My mom had the road version of this car and I truly hated it due to the fact of its suspension making me car sick a lot ( not the road going rally version. Just the standard version for people wearing hats while driving a car )
ОтветитьEpic machines, love the grandiose tragedy of these things. Great film Jack.
Ответитьlooks like a poorly clipped together lego model...nasty french junk.
ОтветитьLets back to Future..
ОтветитьCitroen never flops people are flopped in general
ОтветитьThe BX was flawed but they made amends with the Xsara and DS and C3 rally cars.....
ОтветитьA pal of mine took a BX19 GTI out for a spin in the snow. It was a customer's car and we both worked at Silverstone at the time.... There were a few F1 anoraks at the entrance so he thought he'd turn it in on the handbrake. All went well until he pitched it in and pulled the brake - only to find that the handbrake operated on the front wheels! Went straight on in to the entrance wall and dented more than his pride.
ОтветитьLove Citroen, love the BX, really enjoyed this video, and enjoy your videos in general 😅 Great stuff
PS: miss the tomato and haven’t seen any updates from JayEmm…
hmmmm didnt the old DS Rally versions have hydropneumatic suspensions? With success?
Ответитьwow.....rare as rare can be, this 4TC !!!! 😵💫...designed to "compete", but in fact just to say "Citroen is here" in group B . It was a patchwork of parts available on the factory shelves😋 ....Finally, just an ad....🙃
ОтветитьI love em, because they are so weird, and they weren't slow, sure they weren't the fastest, but they still did respectable times in the events they did run. 380hp pushing just 1150kgs is still a very respectable power to weight, even if not the best in it's class.
There was one sitting on top of other vehicle rubbish in an industrial yard for quite a while, a rally car, can't remember the details, but remember the pictures, no one wanted it but eventually someone did get it.
Great video thanks
ОтветитьStill a legend in its own right’s! Try and buy one cheap now!
ОтветитьLove it,..always loved the bx shape..just because it didn't win doesn't mean it's not great!❤
Ответитьmy dad had an '88 BX, such a nostalgic trip and such an ugly car.
sounds like they did what Ford did in F1 in early 2000.
strictly going your own way and didn't look around what the other competitors are doing.
Another clue that this is an Acropolis car is on the left rear door where it says ΣΥΓΓΕΛΙΔΗΣ Α.Ε. He’s the official Citroen importer here in Greece for over 50 years, I actually work for them, great video!
Ответить4.23 Hydropeumatic not in rallye? Nah, aswell de DS as the SM were adapted for rallye (Monte Carlo 1969).
ОтветитьThis cars are so beautiful❤❤❤
ОтветитьCitroën has rallied with many hydropneumatic models, starting with the DS 19 and ID 19 taking 1st and 4th position of the 1959 Monte Carlo rally
ОтветитьStrangely, I actually like the look of the road going car.
ОтветитьThe headlights are unaligned
ОтветитьThe greek advertising on the car also points to this car being in the Akropolis. (ΣΥΓΓΕΛΙΔΗΣ Α.Ε just behind the door)
Ответить
