We need a re-review of this lens on the EOS R7 👀
ОтветитьI am sad that it does not have Image Stabilization.
Looks like an amazing lens otherwise.
For APSC sensor DSLR cameras, does it crop the image? for example 18mm on this lens, would that be (18*1.6) 28.8 mm or 18mm?
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьOthers probably have mentioned this before me, but just in case, it's worth repeating that Olympus beat Sigma to the punch by a few years when it comes to making f/2 zooms for their Four Thirds DSLRs. The 14-35mm f/2 has a standard zoom range of 28-70 equivalent, an MF ring that's always available, and very robust weather sealing. The sister zoom, the 35-100mm f/2, was released at around the same time with similarly robust build quality but a slower focus mechanism. If we just look at working copies, both are fantastic lenses. Not downplaying the Sigma f/1.8 zoom lenses, though.
ОтветитьHi Christopher love the videos, I have a canon 90d would this lens be suitable. Found it second hand for $500 Aud
Thanks Kevin
Can anyone confirm that this lens is the sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC canon Art lens
ОтветитьWe need a new review of this lens with more recent cameras! 👵🏼
ОтветитьThinking of getting this lens right now. Could be awesome both on my 5dmk3 and my r7.
ОтветитьI used it 6 years ago on nikon d5300 and the image looks almost full framed camera could show. Yes
ОтветитьIt's amazing how Sigma back then was still known for a budget lens manufacturer, but 8 years ago they predicted the future with this lens. With the rise of budget "cinema" camera with the MFT mount, the 18-35 has been the darling for a lot of videographers.
ОтветитьHi Chris,is this lens for landscape?hope you notice me..
ОтветитьHi Christopher, hope you are well. I watched this review as im looking for a good quality lens at reasonable price for astronomy etc to use converted on my canon R5, disappointed that this lens is designed for aps-c. Would you have any recommendations for a similar quality lens that I could use please? Budget around £600.
ОтветитьNOW - after your Video - I MUSST have this "thing" 😉
ОтветитьLove your reviews but your prices are always wrong I paid £700 from Wex and couldn’t find any except second hand ones at the prices you quoted.
ОтветитьOne of the most popular usage scenarios for this lens is on a speedbooster on a Micro Four Thirds camera like the G9, GH5 M2, or the GH6, where is gives an aperture around f1.2 26-50mm lens which is amazing. While the Panasonic 10-25mm f1.7 is technically a little better (better contrast, flare resistance, chromatic aberrations) I love the character that the imperfections give this lens. Plus it is way cheaper than the Panasonic lens. It is also a good option for speedboosting onto Sony APSC.
ОтветитьThis lens is absolutely brilliant. For anyone worried about the autofocus issues on new cameras, I just bought one today and it works fine on my Rebel SL3 (both in viewfinder and live view). Though I still have to test it out in a real-life situation.
I actually was allowed to try it out before purchasing it (new) by the store owner. See if you can do the same before buying!
Always makes me shudder that your definition of aps-c i systems n your otherwise very helpful reviews is 'less expensive' as if that's the sole differentiator. People don't only buy aps-c because it's cheap :) the system absolutely has its place for sports, wildlife and street photographers especially where smaller and faster has always been an advantage
Ответитьtoo bad its a APS-C
ОтветитьSo by now this is an old video, but my boyfriend's sister has this lens, and I saw the pictures from it and was shocked. They were SO crisp! Now I was shocked because my lens collection is literally kit lenses and a nifty 50 and that's it, never got into saving up enough for other lenses after school. I've always felt a bit bad for going to a literal photo school and then barely using what I learned and kind of drifting away from photography, but lately I've gotten back into it a bit more, so hopefully a little bit of upgrading my lenses will really help.
ОтветитьRELOOKING at this lens as I'm about to pick up the Canon R7 and wondering about your thoughts on the IBIS with this lens and if it might be ok to hand hold video and photos? I truly love the lens review and am ready to make the buy. thanks in advance for your response.
ОтветитьDoes this work with canon rebel t5?
ОтветитьSigma 35 1.4 Or sigma 18-35 1.8 , what to chose ?
ОтветитьThis video was posted in 2013 but in your description it says you used an R5 to make this video? Are you from the future? Lol
ОтветитьYear of release
ОтветитьAre efs mounts the same as ef?
ОтветитьI've had this lens for about a year. When first got it, had focus issues then micro adjusted which helped then got the doc and after that never looked back. I absolutely love it with my 90D and I am comparing to my Canon 70-200 2.8 iii and Canon 100-400 and it really stacks up against those two soooooooo well! Highly recommend it and looking at a 24-70 2.8 to bridge the gap even though have the 18-135 Canon which is a great lens but not the personality of the others. It won't be the Canon as no OS but in that one, most say the Tamron is the better choice?
ОтветитьAm I the only one that thinks it's soft wide open at 18mm?!
ОтветитьHow does this compare to the Sigma f16mm 1.4?
ОтветитьThis lens made me finally take the leap from using only Canon lenses. I also love that this lens is made in Japan. It has been amazing so far and with videos like this from Christopher I learn more and more. 🇺🇸
ОтветитьHow does this thing do with the new eos m6 mk2
ОтветитьExcellent review!!
ОтветитьThis is a f1.8 camera, but correct me if I am wrong, but it is also an APS-C lens. Doesn't the crop factor reduce the maximum aperture to 2.88? Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat about full frame?
ОтветитьWill this LENS work with Canon EOS R Mirrorless Full Frame ? What frame will this lense work with?
ОтветитьHi Chris, Will it be possible to test it on M6 mkii ?
ОтветитьGreat review, I'll have to save up for this one.
ОтветитьI purchased this lens based on a number of reviews. I paired it with a speed booster on a canon M50. I am just starting and this was the direction I can afford at the moment. At 18mm it seem to be unusable in 3:2 aspect ratio. Changing it to 4:3 is a little better, but you still see the lens on the corners. Is this normal? Is there a setting I am missing to correct this? Is it because this lens is on a crop sensor camera? Any help would be appreciated.
ОтветитьWould you recommend this lens in 2021?
Ответитьwould this lens work with a mirrorless camera (with an adapter?) I have an old canon M2
ОтветитьWhat a beauty!
ОтветитьWatching this in 2021 when it’s like $700 lol
Ответитьdo you still use this lens?
ОтветитьAnother great review this one and the comparison review against the other fast zoom lenses ended up costing me as I’m now happily shooting with this lens lol 👍👍👍😂😂
ОтветитьCould you please revisit this lens at all? Your test standards have changed greatly since first loaded.
Plus apparently there will be a x mount on the lens so many will be looking into this lens again.
Amazing review. I've been considering getting the lens, now I definitely wanna get it🙂
ОтветитьIm using this lens and can confirm: razor sharp lens; could be cheaper a bit, but price is still acceptable for me......
ОтветитьIs it good for portrait
ОтветитьYour channel is class Chris. Keep up the excellent work. I always use your reviews in my decisions
