And...if you are still struggling with compression. It's ok. Maybe start off with 
a limiter - it doesn't have as many controls as the comp but you're doing something 
similar. Once your ears have become more sensitive you can come back to back.
It's just important not to feel overwhelmed. Enjoy your music!

Great video, however the opto compressor has nothing to do with the speed of light, it has to do with the characteristics of the light source, how it reacts differently to sustained signals and short bursts ( very similar to how the ear reacts)

I hear almost none of it. I'm good with instruments but useless at mixing and mastering.

I’m going to assume this only really applies to analogue hardware. Obviously digital recreations are gonna attempt to emulate the sound but I’m guessing this video is talking exclusively about analogue

how do you know the plugin doesn't much real fairchild 670? have you ever seen real one in real life? it costs 170-300 000 on ebay. how you could compare?

1176 is most important (for channels) and these which have separated input and input-treshold (for bus, master)

Honestly? People say I write quite interesting music. And I am doing my best to learn about these effects like compression, etc. But sometimes it's really hard for me to hear the difference between processed and unprocessed sounds.

Great video. Bit surprised that you didn't mention the knee of vari-mu compressors. That's their appeal.... for signals just hitting the threshold, the ratio will be gentle. But as you drive the input harder (and further past the threshold) the ratio increases.
