I loved my Berghaus Mera Peak jacket that I bought back in 2012 to help me get through the apocalypse 😂. I wasn’t looking specifically for a technical garment at the time but I liked the design of the jacket and it’s fashionable appearance. It had practical features like zipped breast pockets, arm pit ventilation, Velcro cuffs and a fantastically protective hood. I wore it to death as it was so versatile. Seeing this is making me want to invest in another similar piece.
ОтветитьBig steppa mans like fashion roadman with journalism 🎉🎉
ОтветитьGood ol raisins and peanuts? Surely it's Gor(tex) P(ro)?
ОтветитьWell done. Really intelligent and well spoken video. 👍
ОтветитьYou mean outerwear. We called it outerwear.
ОтветитьI go for brands like Patagonia or The North Face. Still great quality, offers different styles and it’s accessible vs Arcteryx that yeah good quality but priced for the fashion hype.
Ответитьstrong video !!
ОтветитьI personally love the new textiles that are being made, they look new for a long time and are practical. That matters to me and you get better cost per wear.
ОтветитьI've been dressing like this since 98 buying ACG and the north face. GORP and Tech-wear is very similar. Pretty much the same style. I have mostly Nike ACG Gore Tex jackets 6 which I love and have 2 North Face.
ОтветитьWhat is the product name/code from the jacket you are wearing?
ОтветитьWhere did you get your jacket ?
ОтветитьNot a new thing in the North of the UK.. where is is cold. and high end Italian/Japanese gear is a great flex.
Ответитьur arcteyx jacket is tooooooooooooo fire
ОтветитьI thought he was wearing a ch fuck hat💀
ОтветитьI like it because gives me like a hiking streetwear type of thing
ОтветитьIt’s crazy because i have been wearing them for skiing and hiking for many years but never how to wear it everyday and not look too functional. I am trying to get the most out of those pieces now and learning how to get into the gorpcore style if i already have the pieces
ОтветитьI have been saving for a Patagonia coat for years because they line up with my values (B Corp, circular product manufacturing, nice range of colors). But I'm also 100% ok with getting a lower cost one from their outlet shop or secondhand. I'm more worried about it working in both California (thus Patagonia, biased because local) and when I eventually move to central Europe.
I think it's fine if people wear such things just for aesthetics. I just hope when the trend dies down they get rid of them in a sensible way.
Check out Cotopaxi too. Sustainable and socially conscious and more fun colors and branding than other gorp brands.
Ответитьwhere is your hat from?
Ответитьsounds like a new name for "tech-wear" hehe
ОтветитьI've long been trying to purge myself of fast fashion. A few years ago, I went on a hike and had so much fun that it's become one of my main weekend activities.
When I finally broke down and bought some proper hiking shoes and lightweight pants, I realized "oh, this is super comfortable AND durable." So. . . yeah, I think I'm all in.
I even bought a pair of Chacos sandals. Come at me.
Well Sacai x Acronym will push this harder.
ОтветитьThat's a really cool hat you got.
Ответитьi bought my first tnf mountain jacket due to a video of antwon 3 years ago, since then i became so much more invested into fashion and its kinda nice to see the thing go full circle and see him on here!
Ответитьi wish i had more money........gotta save for a house, so fashion and accessories gotta wait for a while.....
ОтветитьI like gorpcore because these performance pieces are aesthetically pleasing (minimal, nice earthy color palette, nice silhouette) + they are technically advanced (goretex water proofing, breathability and warmth) but I would never buy something because Travis or Frank Ocean wore it.
ОтветитьSo Gorpcore = Techwear ?
ОтветитьMisread: Gropcore
ОтветитьNo way you got mason mount on the channel
ОтветитьNgl I hear wot you saying about arcteryx as an example I seen some 2018 bottega venetta t-shirts for £129 in txmax just yesterday to some this would be a steal as the brand is very upper echelon and looks down on Gucci as a poor cousin as kering obviously own them both but to me its still just a plain black T. The sleeves had super detail and just wearing this brand would prob change my social class from middle to upper in a nano sec. However nobody in my social circle knows about Bottega Venetta not even my fashiony friends so I wouldn't even get a fashionista nod around my friends and the same can be said about arcteryx. Arcteryx being fashionable is new to me also and to most so its too niche a concept to create a stir in the industry. I seen the brand in a few places i got it confused with acquiscutum once i would rock that arcteryx coat of yours though the colour gives me Louis vibes.
ОтветитьGorpcore is nothing new, living in New York youre naturally tossed into gorpcore without even knowing it. Marmot is an example, asolo boots, north face ski pants,
ОтветитьIt’s essentially all the same with slight different builds anyway… take a visit to the Lake District you’ll blend right in
Good conversation though I’m on your wave..
Gatekeeping hiker/outdoor clothing is very lame tho 😂
Bought a Columbia shirt purely for the design/detals in it. Being constructed to have air flow through causes it to look different then a regular collar shirt.
Ответитьsnackcore
ОтветитьI came into gorpcore from seeing pattagucci during uni days a few years ago. Patagonia is still my most worn brand today. Shit's mad comfy too. I'm less inclined to buy designer outerwear pieces because they don't fit me + I want more function & longevity for what I'm paying for. I'm all for gorpcore. Even if the trend fades out it's still long lasting, durable clothing made for mountains and hikes.
Excited to see what Arcteryx+ Jil Sander pulls out this fall.
Love that ant's getting interviews now lol, this as far as practicality is perfect where I live near Seattle
ОтветитьTo be or not to be a hypebeast 🤔😂
ОтветитьMy favorite brands in order are Acronym, Arc'teryx, Canada Goose, Nike ACG, C.P Company, Stone Island and The North Face.
ОтветитьI'm just here to say I love your videos, I love hearing your opinions and you are gorge!!!!!!!!<3
ОтветитьGreat detailed video on this topic as usual, I think you nailed a lot of the important points.
Thanks again for inviting me on! 🤩
There is a store in Manchester that stock a lot of great south east Asian brands in this style. Store is called This Thing of Ours. They carry brands like Comfy Outdoor Garments (the slash jacket is probably the best coat design I have seen in a long time) Snow Peak, Cayl, TMCaZ, F/CE, Merely Made, Norbit. As well as solid European brands like Hagloffs and Tilak which are akin to the Arc'teryx take on this look.
ОтветитьAntwon sent me
ОтветитьI find very curious how this type of style is very very common and characteristic of Basque people (in the north of Spain). We wear this kind of clothes to school or casual activities and of course to mountain activities too because these are huge part of our culture. Everyone has a pair of Salomon boots and Gore Tex clothing and wear them any day!
ОтветитьVeryy needed video
ОтветитьGreat video. I feel like this trend will go away pretty soon...
ОтветитьIn Australia we call ‘gorp’ ‘scroggin’
ОтветитьStill hoping Arcteryx collabs with Jil Sander this year is tasteful, not like the Palace one.
ОтветитьWe can only support brands that don't care about trends and just make quality clothing. And usually, brands that fall into the gorpcore category are like that. And even though they might be part of the "hype" now, it doesn't change the fact they are a role model for others.
We need fewer trends and more genuine quality clothing.
