I'm 39 years old. I remember playing this game with my older brothers. I don't remember if we ever actually beat the game, but playing games with my brothers were my favorite memories.

These kids lack patience, maybe if they took the time to see what every button does, and how the characters work, then maybe they might of stood a chance. Plus, they have unlimited bullets, why arent they continously shooting! That would of prevented so many deaths. 😡

I remember finishing this game many times when I was young with my friends and brother! But with the UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN... 30 lifes code!

Wow, I guess we were built different in the 80's. I remember playing this game constantly and I did alot better than they done when I was 8 yrs old.

After a few continues, why not give them the code? Such a big part of video game history is the Konami Code.

Where we all learned how to do the Konami code.

And in many games there was no save option, so we just hit pause, turned the TV off and went for whatever our parents wanted us to go do, leaving the NES powered on for hours :p Then come back home and resume where we left off...I mean, Metroid or Mega man you really didn't want to lose the progress ! Ghouls and Goblins was just a nightmare...

It hurts to see this. It's like they are trying to save ammo. It's infinite. Hold down the fire button. I've beaten this game with my brothers' dozens of times. You can't just run through it hoping you don't get shot. You have to stop the bullets by destroying everything and collecting the best weapon upgrades. Work together. We used to split up the kills by having one of us prioritizing the top and the other the bottom.

Contra is definitely not 1 of the hardest

This is the generation that if they don’t win it automatically sucks.

Contra is easy, if you just pay attention. I bought it new from the release date for $25 and within a week, I could beat it twice in a row without dying.

I’d just recycle and get bored then shut it off.
