@nosleeplessnights1 The frequency / Hrz produced electrically vs produced mechanically seem to be of major importance pertaining to health.

Do they all blow out and move air around? I would prefer no air movement to be honest. Especially in the winter. Are there any good ones which don’t?

Comprehensive. But a little disappointed the loop-length --- very important to some of us --- was not noted on all-machines. Good that it was on a few, --- short loops never good, --- but not all.

I actually have the #3 "Sound+Sleep special edition", and while you seemed to cover the features well, what was not mentioned, and what is a BIG-plus, if newer model has it, which I remember reading its supposed to, is non-loop variable sound-track! It seems like a non-loop surf, or stream, or forest sound, whatever.

Maybe I'm wrong.

My older one has a BIG-flaw, for some very odd reason, if stream-flow (one of my favorites), for example, there is an inexplicable and actually unnatural sudden surge in the flow-sound, intensity and volume, as if the stream turned into a sudden rushing flood-river! WHY such a stupid and unnatural variation was included, though it is short-lived, is beyond me. It can be annoying, --- and actually somewhat defeats the purpose for a sound machine.

Hopefully, the newer model has eliminated the ridiculous sudden increase-surge in sound-volume (and no, it was not accidentally left on the "adaptive"-setting), with some selections.

I was young in the 50`s. Slept in the basement. Just outside the door the water heater was old and boiled loudly. Believe it or not I grew use to it. Ha Ha/

I'm autistic and I can't live without these. I have one, about the size of an NHL hockey puck White Noise Sound Machine Model: DWN-0018. It uses the oblong Samsung charger. I love it.

Seems like only me not getting the purpose of these machines…How can i put a noise like that, close to my head? Or am i getting wrong?

Your evaluations are good, but what's missing is any sense of obsolescence. How long will any of the devices you reviewed last? One month? A couple of weeks? What goes wrong with any of them over time? No answer.

This video is a few years old, but I just heard about white noise machines.I have a neighbour who snores so loud I can hear it through the wall and it's driving me insane! I have to sleep with ear plugs every night, but now my ears won't breathe during the night and they get itchy. This is very helpful so I can hear what sounds these machines include.

May be moving to a condo. An audible light rail electric transit train runs by. Thought in case it's irritating I'd consider a white noise machine. Then I remembered my laptop IS a w.n.m.! I have tinnitus&used to play electronic w.n. + waterfalls tracks together as my fave sounds to effectively mask ringing of ears. I got so used to the ringing, I ceased needing w.n. But might need it again for the train. W/long extension cord for my good desktop speakers, I can easily put my w.n. where ever I want it. Laptops as an alternative to machines.

Amazing review! Is there any sound machine you would recommend for babies? We are debating between lectrofan and yogasleep.. I would like to have vacuum cleaner sound included. But not neccessary. Lectrofan has portable noise machine as well? Any opinions on that machine?

I had a radio with nature sounds and the loops were annoyingly short to the point you can not sleep. I wish i knew the logic behind these machines design.

Quick question, can you recommend a device for brown noise that can dampen my neighbour's bass?
They're up all night an always listening to music or the tv and their sound system, even on the lowest setting, puts out enough bass to come into our apartment, cutting right through earplugs and fans.
I think we need something large enough to have a speaker that can put out bassy brown noise without being turned all the way up as the intruding sounds aren't very loud, yet very persistent.
