We live in a time where the rightful correction of injustices done to the underprivileged has somewhat over corrected to the point where we can no longer entertain that an underprivileged person may just be a dick. That because someone may be underprivilege, we must treat them differently. Racism does play a part, but I've also seen that card played in the other direction. That if they don't get treated as special it's seen as racism.

Religion is an evolutionary consequence of the human tendency to assign agency to things, because doing so keeps us safe. Sorry Pine, your logic doesn't add up. I'll explain why with an example. Let's say we're talking about Swedish culture, and I suddenly say that in Sweden they kill children. If you deny it, I can certainly find an example where this has happened. The problem with that standard is that based on this logic, you can say that children are killed in all countries, so why would I specifically mention it about Sverge in particular? But most important is the context. If we are talking about Swedish culture and I say that "In Sweden they kill children." then it is reasonable to take it as my thinking that this is an element of Swedish culture. This is positively wrong, and in that sense an unequivocal lie. While I understand your point of view, I'm so sick of that kind of querulation. The problem we are facing, especially in the US, but also in Europe, is that people like Trump are now flagging that they are no longer going to play by the rules... that they are in favor of changing the very structure of the system. And then you sit there and ramble on about technicalities in the language without even realizing what is at stake. If you want a radical change in the political system, I think you should say so instead of pulling a Petersen "Wat do you mean by; "What do you mean"?". It gets boring very quickly.

I think its unlikely Haitians are sacrifing pets. I think its likely other nationalities are - especially if deprived of funds, there are eastern nations who eat cats & dogs as a regular part of their diet. We eat things many nations revile, pork being the obvious one.

With the elephant painting analogy, I think it would be a more accurate analogy if you said an elephant was running through my neighborhood and demolished my garage. But when journalists looked into it the police and town officials said we have no reports of elephants running through town and no property damage reports. Then when pushed we see it wasn’t your garage and you didn’t see it, it was a friend of a friend who saw it. I think we’d be safe to say, not that this didn’t, and couldn’t happen, but that we do not have reason to spread it to a national audience as if it were fact.

Concerning the Haitians eating animals and the "no credible evidence" response.

The reason why your elephant painting doesn't address the issue is because the lack of evidence of Haitians eating dogs and cats is evidence against the claim of Haitians eating dogs and cats.

The absence of evidence is evidence of absence in the cases where such evidence is expected if the claim were true.
This is not the case for your elephant painting.

Now it could be the case that both Haitians are eating dogs and there are no credible reports to the police because the Haitians are, say, limiting themselves to stray dogs and cats.

If that's the case, I find nothing wrong with it.

There's some light but steady self righteousness and arrogance that just leaks out of this kid. Doug has clearly investigated all sides of these claims of Systemic BS, whereas this kid clearly has not as he can't even imagine of another scenario that might prove him wrong.

I like myself and am so much happier now, than I was then. Then - when I blamed "systems" for all the bad things in the world including my own plight. How much better it feels to be a firm believer in personal responsibility rather than swimming in pitty.
And that can't come without forgiveness (of others and self) and the understanding/ acceptance of other people's beliefs (religious, political, etc.)

This is what happens, if you allow doug to go at his own pace and are an actual skeptic holding ideas without honestly questioning them. If you are scared to speak your mind when explaining core aspects of what you believe in, it is as doug has said: Not at all a good look. One of these days ill have to call in to find out if I'd look like a toddler in a conversation like this.

I only got one response, I usually get numerous. The one response said "all of them, like here."

Most of the large police departments that get accused of racism are mainly staffed by minorities. Like Atlanta pd. As a former detective I can say unequivocally there is no systemic racism in policing.

It’s also to understand that police are responsible for root causes. What happens before a crime or in court, has little to do with police. There’s plenty of data supporting these arguments.
