Mi A3 vs Mi A2 - One Step Forward, One Step Back

I have both phones Mi A2 (Matte Black with 6GB RAM & 128GB Storage) and Mi A3 (Kind of grey with 4GB RAM & 128GB of storage). In my opinion the Mi A3 is a lot more good, especially the size of the phone. It is more compact than Mi A2. The resolution is not a problem for me, both phones work great with the system I love a lot and that is the reason to buy these phones - Android One. My daily driver is Mi A3 because I put GCAM on it, but I can't put the Google Camera on the Mi A2.

funny..amoles display is way better than lcd😂...just watch video with high res with 720p amoled vs 1080p lcd...the 720p amoled killed the 1080ips lcd...lol😂😂😂😂..take some pic with mi a3 and compare to mi a2 camera pic..mi a3 done his job with the camera and the picture just superb...nice color,sharp..detail..

Honestly though, even though the a3 DOES have a 720p display, that wallpaper isn't making it look any more attractive

720p is a deal breaker for me when Xiaomi mi 8 lite, samsung a40, Nokia 6.2, moto g7 and mi a 2 exist at 1080p for the same price.

I've got the mia3 having previously had s Nokia 8- it's a superb phone. No lag, good camera and great battery. Amoled screen is also great and 720 pixels is not an issue.Fantastic value for money.

Hoping for same hardware design but HD display and Snapdragon 700 series CPU for Mi A4.

I'm proud of my Mi A3 I don't give a damn about the display

I was thinking of buying an A3 for my grandpa, buts its too overkill. Was trying to give to my daddy, but still overpowering... Then I realize I can give to wifey who use only for chit chat and social media. If she gets angry Gorilla Glass 5 saves the day...

Doesnt matter what u upgrade from MI A2.... giving a 720p display in 2019 is just plain stupidity.. i m hopeful xioami will release another version of mi A3 with 1080p display...

I really don't care about the 720p display as long as the battery is good and it is android one phone that what matters to me.

people who say 720p is a problem are the same ones that just read spec and complain about them, same is with new shiny back, useless.. i would talk about how is to use it, i bet most wouldnt even notice lower res, but most would notice way longer battery life.. i would take bigger battery, 720p with plastic matte back everytime in this price point.. glass backs are 100% useless, everyone ends up putting a case or a sticker on them, only looks nice in a video, irl its slipery and its dirty af.

I hope they make a plus version of this with a better display

There's absolutely no point to upgrade phone each year just because new model has popped out. Right now I'm looking for a new phone after my previous has worked just fine for 4.5 years and at this point A3 looks better because it has minijack (no stupid adapter if I insist on using wired headphones), has memcard slot (in case I'd go grazy and start taking too much videos without deleting older stuff). AMOLED? No big deal and just make sure it's not dimmed by PWM like A2 (in case are sensitive to this). CPU, frequency? Quite enough for what this phones are used for. RAM? Enough, just don't be stupid and don't keep all you apps in RAM - but Android now takes care for this and will do this better than average Joe. People buying phones for specs may be worried by A3, people buying phone for real use will be more than happy.

I can say that Mi a2 is a big phone

When i swipe left on my Mi A2, I get blank. The "Google App" just doesn't work. Is this happening only in my device?

screw the resolution. Iphone xr has it as well and it's OK. I take it as advantage because of lower battery and data drain. If i could choose between 1080p IPS and 720p OLED, i would choose OLED.

Actually they can do a 720p display but with a small form factor.. Like 5 inch or 5.2 inch

I bought a Lenovo K5 Pro, which looks exactly like the Mi A2 but with a way better battery with similar specs. Thought about getting the Mi A2 but the battery is terrible.

This could have been sold easily at 160 ish bucks if they didnt go amoled, or if they used a 1080p ips panel

I think they had to do OLED so there is fingerprint reader? That meant costs increased and price would increase too. But in order for the price to stay they opted out to use an cheaper 720p OLED panel instead to compensate the price increase. IDK tbh this is just my thought.

I use small fonts because i prefer watching all my texts complete. So using a 720p resolution is not really a good option for me even if it's an amoled i think i'll go for the redmi note 7

They should've compromised on the back and made it from plastic to save money. The front of a phone is more important, they should've used a full HD panel...
