Kirby does not understand Ukraine's thinking or full strategy . They don't want to destroy the bridge totally just yet so it can still serve as an escape route . However the damage done will cause a great slow down of supplies by road because of the traffic jams on a single lane . This gives people a chance to leave Crimea before any further attacks that could seal off Crimea from all supplies . They don't want the UN and International press blubbering about a civilian humanitarian disaster if Crimea eventually runs out of food . Ukraine will be able to say we gave them a chance to leave . Kirby is partially right as much as teh rail line still operates and brings in a significant amount of supplies but that will also be hit eventually . Kirby has got no real understanding of the geography of Ukraine or the supply routes from Russia . There is no long border with Ukraine concerning Crimea and bringing supplies by road from Rostov area is a long way and is being bombed regularly . Kerch bridge is a major supply route and supply trucks and trains go back and forth continually . That's why they keep repairing it . Kirby should shut up and stick to written press releases .

I think you'll find Russia just turned the tables on the west in relation to the grain deal. But first let me say that the deal failed because the west renegaded on fulfilling their part. However Russia has offered free grain to all needy countries. Now it's up to the west to allow Russian ships to use EU ports to transport that grain. This was the part of the deal that the EU refused to uphold and ultimately lead to the deals collapse.
Will Kerby now put pressure on the EU to allow free grain to reach those poor countries he was referring to here. Don't think so. Hypocrisy at its worst.
