I apologize for this necro post, but I just had to buy a gen 1 (98) Navigator due to budget concerns and I'm going to swap out the plugs. I have watched a few other videos on how tricky getting the rear coils and plugs out and I'm curious if you think pulling the fuel rails to make more room to work is a good idea?
ОтветитьWatching THIS vid “8 YEARS LATER…you STILL recommend the SAME?
Ответитьthese plugs are pre gapped??
ОтветитьThanks bro,, piece of piss
Ответитьhow do I know if I have a 2 valve or 3 valve engine ?
ОтветитьYour dog is just as scared as the people doing their plugs for the first time
ОтветитьThe link for the coils on Amazon are verified fake per the reviews. They might have been legit at one time.
ОтветитьThe plugs in your Amazon link say they are made in China. Are genuine OEM Motorcraft plugs made in China?
ОтветитьDo you take off the battery cables before doing the spark plugs?
ОтветитьGood vid, thanks mate
ОтветитьDo you know the gap specs for the lightning and Harley supercharged f150s?
ОтветитьI only use the copper anti seize too, can’t stand the other stuff. I have also used the standard ignition t series coils with great success.
ОтветитьThanks, great video, note to self=.......7 mm. socket , (9/16ths spark plug socket 2009 4.6L 3v.) 9 inch extension with universal joint, dielectric grease , nitrile gloves, 39-43 thousands gap for spark plug,( 2009 4.6L 3v v8)
ОтветитьIts easier to just swap the engine than to replace the spark plugs
ОтветитьI'll just save up my allowance and come visit your shop with my 2v, haha. The three hour drive, and lunch at some suburban Chicago place we don't have in Iowa would be worth it, lol. Serious question though- is there a way to tell if a spark plug has "blown" but not blown out the coil with it?
Ответить@FordTechMakuloco While I completely trust your advice regarding the "overtorque" of these plugs, I'm really concerned since online manuals still say 11 ft/lbs. I also don't see a Ford TSB on it either. One would think that Ford would have updated this by now.
Can you explain why there is so much confusion about this? Are they trying to avoid lawsuits or something? I'm just trying to get this right, so that I can change the plugs myself every 30,000 or so in my beloved 2004 MGM. This would be the 1st time I would be doing it, and I don't want to screw it up. 😀
Installed 8 new Motorcraft spark plugs in my 2003 5.4 2v. Expy. I have never had any problem with MC plugs. 8000 miles after the install I lost # 7 hole. Changed injector , coil, and still no joy. A friend of mine asked if I changed the plug and I laughed, knowing I only had 8K. on the plugs. I was ready to pull the valve cover and he made me change the plug on 7. SOB it was dead as the space shuttle. FMC has lost one of their favorite customers buying spark undependable plugs. I just can't depend on them again.
ОтветитьIt did pay small amount as for big payout as not paid
ОтветитьGreat video I always use a 6 to 8 in Long piece of 3/8 in ID fuel line and put my spark plug in using that. That way you cannot strip it.
ОтветитьThank you for this video. Been looking for a great example on changing plugs on my 99 Ford expedition. Your video eased my mind.
ОтветитьVery precise, thank you.❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьThank you so very much for your video!!! My truck popped out the spark plug out, and after your video, I now understand, so I replaced the plug and got a new coil.
ОтветитьThank you so much for your info! I'm trying to get my hands on the Motorcraft Dielectric Grease in a pinch and I'm having trouble finding any nearby. Can I use any silicone dielectric grease? Or is there another brand that might be easier to get my hands on. I'm gonna be replacing my ignition coils and spark plugs on my E150 using motorcraft parts. Thanks for any feedback!
Ответитьthe spark plugs on my 2006 f350 are 9/16
Ответитьi got 148k on my motorcraft plugs i know im going to change soon but man it runs so good
ОтветитьI have an 07 E350 XLT van. How do I know if its a 2v or 3v ?
ОтветитьIt appears your dog had the shakes. I hope it is ok.
ОтветитьFORD ENGINEERS WHO CAME UP WITH THIS ENGINE DESIGN SHOULD BE FIRED !!!!!
Ответить108,000 miles on my Lincoln town car do you think I’m ok buying my motorcraft plugs SP493 and the coils DG508 from Rockauto, and not being counterfeit?
ОтветитьAny one know if this applies to the 4 valve 5.4 intech?
ОтветитьDamn Motorcraft coils are expensive.
ОтветитьAlso, Is that an extension off of a compressor, or is that some kind of product thst you can put a can of air in? I have almost shot a plastic straw into my engine twice now
Ответитьvery useful thanks
ОтветитьWhat is the brand of socket and how mush does if cost, if you remember
ОтветитьThis is a nightmare job because of hard o access the rear plugs.
ОтветитьAny tips on 4.6 getting engine shudder under load at low rpms? 2006 town car. No codes on the obd2. Just replaced all the COPS. Maybe the plugs?
145k
good vid what kind vehicle were you doing this on i have a 2003 Lincoln town car signature took it to shop yesterday have #8 coil replaced only not plug watched guy do it think i can do it myself LOL you know what brand coils i should get ? 2-21-2023 thank you
ОтветитьHi and thanks a lot for this. I have an E350 with the 2v 5.4 V8 ... ¿do you recomend any engine temperature for a better replacing proccess of the plugs?
ОтветитьAwesome detailed video. Especially appreciate the tool recommendations to take out the guessing game and the torquing tip!
ОтветитьI enjoyed your well done video. I recently purchased a 2006 Camper with a F-450 V-10 Triton engine. The vehicle has 52,000 on it and runs fine. I don't think the spark plugs have ever been changed. Do you think it is necessary? Thank you.
ОтветитьBig time thank you. Just got mine done.
ОтветитьI have a F-150 with the Triton Motor. I have rarely had to touch it. I did replace one coil many years ago. About Five years ago the truck developed a bad miss. About that time it needed a new battery. After that the miss went away. It was running pretty good , no missing until one of the battery terminals cracked when I discovered that I noticed mice had recently been in the engine compartment and left some of their typical mess . I had no compressed air and the engine was cool so I washed out some engine cavities with a water spray nozzle . The Engine started right up but now has a miss that is most noticeable after the engine warms up. Most likely some water or condensation has caused the problem even after evaporation. Possibly the moisture caused a minor short in the coil or some kind of arcing. I have always wondered if the computers could be programed to develop faults and fault code’s for the purpose of job security and future sales of newrer vehicles to people who just do not want to deal withbeing$100.00 and $1,000.00ed to death. I also Have a Chevy 2500 HD that I also like . Both trucks have had the typical fuel pump failures . The Chevy has problems with electrical connections like Tow Haul and gauges just going out / not functioning. Prone to failure replacement parts are priced exorbitant . I Do not have time for it or removing everything from the truck to lay it up at a shop or risk smash and grab. Many of the Big Trucks I and others Run develop engine light issues that require periods of down time few can afford especially considering the trucks are fairly new. Dealer’s and service shops are having parts availability issues related to complex service / parts agreements and restrictions on the ability to produce and distribute suitable aftermarket components. When Government Gets involved , many wrongs become state sanctioned wrongs. It is not in the interest of self preserving government actors and affiliates to admit mistakes and faults that have so greatly had a negative impact on society. It is far easier and self preserving to point accusing fingers elsewhere to avoid the Liabilities described in parts of the Fourteenth Amendment.
ОтветитьBoxers rule.
ОтветитьA spark plug socket with magnetic insert works really well for me.
ОтветитьChanged coils after with market before on 4.6 engines never had a problem.
ОтветитьMy 09 f150 spark plugs, have light oil residue on threads . Vehicle doesn’t have any issues so I’m not sure if this is something I need to worry about or what it could be.
ОтветитьPpl just over react with this stuff this is easily a c level low b level job just takes common sense and patience like all mechanic work. Great content ford tech! Stay blessed big dawg!
ОтветитьI heard the titan engine is thee worst engine to work on. Is that just bc or no? Bc I think I need to get new plugs and change the tubes a dif color.
Meaning the plugs seize and then I'd be screwed
