ОтветитьTHANK YOU, CARL... LOVE LOVE LOVE HAMMER STUDIOS... THESE OLD CREEPY MOVIES ARE FANTASTIC... the black and white medium makes this even better.. miss Christopher Plummer....
ОтветитьWhat a great era to be a teenager 1960 - 1967, 12 - 18 years old. But then drugs and Viet Nam began to destroy our innocence and consequently the creative process Now, . . . no comment.
ОтветитьJanet looks like a young Angela Rippon
ОтветитьWoo hoo I got to be comment 1000 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Ответить😮.
ОтветитьThis was really good!
ОтветитьThe resemblance is extraordinary.
ОтветитьClytie Jessop who plays the woman in white/Helen who is Henry’s wife
She looks far too much like Angela Pleasance Donald Pleasance’s daughter.
I really like films like this because they have such a sense of realism to them and they reflect the society perfectly of that time with all the scenery and cast and characters of that time and how they look
It’s a good reflection of life in the 1960s I think too and also that films like this don’t always need to rely on super chilling music and special effects and in the scary bits they often film them without the music and I think that’s what makes the scenes feel so real and it’s not over dramatised either and they don’t over exaggerate everything either.
Now THAT was a damn good Movie !
ОтветитьJanet, a girl at finishing school who six years earlier saw her mother stab her father to death, (deserved it as he was cheating on her with weekend interludes pretending to write some book) so she is plagued by nightmares and spam. (Her mother, following the tragedy, was committed to an asylum.) Unjustly I may add, ( excessive alcohol consumption at the hands of her cheating husband) Anywayz, DearMiss Lewis, a teacher, takes Janet home and in the absence of Henry Baxter, Janet's guardian, they are met by "John", (a genuinely kind man) the chauffeur; Mrs. Gibbs, the housekeeper; and Grace Maddox, an attractive nurse companion hired by Henry. Miss Lewis leaves Janet in Grace's care.
The nightmares continue: a white-shrouded woman roams the corridors, inviting Janet to burst into her MaMMas' room, where she finds the same woman on the bed with a knife in her chest. When Henry returns, he finds Janet under sedation; (doped up) as her doctors recommend psychiatric care but he refuses and Janet tries to commit suicide. ----------------------------------------------------see ya. Hold on,
Now Henry's wife comes to tea, (tea-time with crumpets) and, because she seems to be the woman in Janet's nightmares, Janet stabs the woman to death and is promptly committed for life to the looney bin! The woman in white is revealed to be +++++ disguised with a wig and mask and conspiring with the weekend cheater, and adulterer Henry-Tom.
They marry, but Grace begins believing that Henry is trying to drive her mad.
I will not share the ending as it will "spoil" the film.

ОтветитьWell what can you say it's a hammer film so it's going to be excellent . Creepy and intriguing really enjoyed every minute of this film to the point may watch it again soon :)
ОтветитьI love the black and white colour created by the lighting that generates big dark shadows to form a smooth silvery grey clarity like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho movie. Other Hitchcock elements include the camera focusing down on the bewildered faces of characters, innocent heart-shaped faces of protagonists with bob haircuts battling against tall dark scheming antagonists, and the infamous knife. However, when the energy is heightened by mixing screaming, wailing, and suspenseful background together to create suspense, mystery, and horror of things lurking and watching us during our sleep and wakefulness, it is more painful to hear than to see.
ОтветитьI used to stay up late on Friday's when horror films like this were on television. Naturally, I understand and appreciate them more now. I am also thankful I grew up in an era when horror films were for the most part realistic. From what I understand they are a world apart from the trash (in all fairness I've not seen any) made today. Thanks.
Ответитьdoesnt work. good people in the house and victims go exploring any scary phantoms by themselves every time. Terminal lack of reality checking.
ОтветитьThis is fictional but evil ppl like this truly exist. More then we’ll ever know.
ОтветитьShe slapped him, he slapped her 5 minutes later she was still holding her face 😊 they don't make movies like this anymore

My husband and I have been looking to try and find out what that doll is that she carries around. A little clown? A late night comedian? An obscure detail I know.
ОтветитьAll I see is a jumbled up mess what happened to the movie?
ОтветитьGood old movie
ОтветитьAn excellent thriller!
ОтветитьMy father use to say in a situation like that.....all you need is a gun.......The good old days when a Doctor would visit you in your home and call again next. Today the vast majority of Doctors could not give a damn
ОтветитьWould have been better with Julie Christie in the lead.
ОтветитьThat was a belter ---- as only the HAMMER studio is capable of. Many thanks for uploading this little gem.
