The Strategy that is BANNED in Tournaments!

Banned however very strong documentation of it is not point and clikc win. So seems fine as a high risk strategy. They lost because the tried it.... banned... well not needed

I tried this in the early 90s the first time I played with other people because I never liked dealing with combat units, I just loved building massive economic empires.

i only play age of empires for the single player game only.. i never play anything else.

Seems like its perfectly within the games rules and ideas with the multiplayer game.

I remember doing a similar strategy in 4 v 4 team games in Empire Earth back in the day.

Ahh I remember this resource stacking technique from way back in the day, when I was playing Supreme Commander FA!
Pretty much was the go to strategy for everything 3v3 and upwards.

if red had rushed blue first they probably could have gotten the win
since blue was the strongest player, since red crushed teal and grey first with no opposition they basically bought the time needed for blue and green to build up

Banning slinging in tournaments is stupid to me. I don't like strategies being banned. It feels too restrictive. It's like saying that if you come up with an effective and clever strategy, you'll be told not to use it, in a strategy game.

The fact that the american team bounced back against the strat with skill means that the strat is flawed enough to not be banned right?

red was floating thousands, if they sling a bit less, I think it would be even deadlier as the other players would be better, and why couldn't he mix in halb and huskarl?

This is similar to a Dota 2 strat, when the 4 other team mates just gave shared tangos to the mid-player so they could sell them for a fast hand of Midas. Needless to say, they patched that very quickly, you can't sell shared tangos, and they expire after 30 + seconds.

While I agree with banning it for tournaments and such, I still think people get way too upset about slinging. Most of the matches I've been privy to have ended exactly like the mid point of this video. The slinger has maybe taken out one opponent early but their hordes of low tier units are then kinda useless against the opponent's unique units that only get stronger as time goes on.

I don't get, as to, how.. anyone could actually like this. This is like watching Paint dry.

I think it's pretty cool for a strategy and the USA team played against it perfectly.

Cataphract would be the best unit in this scenario. Infantry bonus damage, trample damage, cav unit so fast

Cataphract -> Boyar -> Leitis -> Jaguar Warrior -> Karambit -> Berzerkers

Teutonic Knight would be bad as they are too slow

Game like AoE shouldn't have any restrict limit in using whatever strategy plan you used. This forced & stricting balance meta bullshit just ruining the fun of competitiveness and a community run event like AoE SHOULD NOT chasing a trend like a crap mainstream esports game out there!!

it took me 3 seconds into the video to know that the strategy is gonna be about slinging the goth into condos 🤣it's also fun and viable to sling a mallian too but they do need more barrackses built up. that said the goth's player biggest mistake IMO is that he had more rss than he could spend at some point an he could have used that chance to upgrade huskarl and slowly change unit type into huskarl , waaay earlier than he did.
condos are fine, but huskarl would have ended the game llong before the other 2 players responded since castles, tcs and the archers wouldn't have killed many huskarls as they did kill many condos.

also just gonna say this, since the one getting the rss is goth, going samurai against him, while it might sound smart, the moment i saw the incursion into my teammate's base i'd just go full on stone and build 3-4 castles each player. i promise you, those goth condos will just MELT if they went for a bunch of castles instead of going samurai.

Wouldn't a cataphract be a good defense against this?

You should just create a map where this is the strategy. T shaped spawn with a central channel where the two "slingiese" duke it out in the middle.

This might seem like a dumb question, but what about the Huns lack of need for houses. Could the team member getting all the resources from their partners utilize the lack of homes needed for their pop cap to really push out a lot of units?
