2019 Lexus ES with Mark Levinson Pureplay

I have one of these and my 1997 Lexus sounds better. There is no base coming from rear. I took it back to Dealer they said there was nothing wrong with it.

This sound system is very disappointing, please test it for yourself before adding this option. I saw lots of reviews that state this is an audiophile's dream system and thought maybe there was a problem with mine and took it back to the Lexus dealer. Dealer insists that it is operating as intended. I have the 2022 ES350 with the 17 speaker 1800 watt Mark Levinson system and it is by far the most lacking sound system I have had in a vehicle for a long time (On par with my 1962 VW bus with a center mono speaker in the dash). It is well suited to listen to talk radio, clear vocals and front-center staging but absolutely no fill from any other speakers, no bass, no mid bass and even the higher frequencies are muted. Have tried various music genres and various sources like bluetooth, CarPlay, etc. with same results. You will not hear a bass drum, bass guitar, or the lower frequencies of any instrument, it sounds like there is a high-pass filter set around 500Hz and a low-pass filter set at 10KHz and everything outside of that 500Hz to 10KHz is permanently muted. Basically it sounds like the system is in a state where the audio is being muted for a vocal announcement. Not sure if the amplifier levels are misconfigured, maybe speakers are out of phase, incorrect crossovers installed, or some crazy combination, but this cannot be correct. I will have to borrow a spectrum analyzer and provide some real test results. Just for comparison i put a portable Bose SoundLink speaker on the center of the dash and would honestly say that the portable speaker outperforms this system.

Honestly The ML system is a joke without HD media it’s very underwhelming only got a few songs to sound correctly..not worth the upgrade listen to it first you deciede

I was going to buy a Lexus IS 350. Unfortunately almost none of them had the mark Levinson sound system and I wanted it. So many of those selling their is 350s would lie and say they had it. I have an Infinity G37 with the Bose sound system which is disappointing. Dance probably okay and the tuning is probably okay but the speakers are crap

Honestly the ML system in my 2020 ES350 sounds very good! When I hear some of the complaints I just don't see these problems in mine!

I was really considering the 2019 Lexus ES until I heard complaints about the stereo. Although the tech and the handling of the car gets kudos, the stereo system was a deal breaker for myself. Now i'm considering the 2017-2018 ES or older GS model

Why not just put microphones around the car and have an active real time corrective tuning system

I cringe everytime I see Harman diluting the Mark Levinson brand. My geniune Mark Levinson Hi Fi components cost more than that whole Lexus 😡

I have a new 2019 ES 350 Sport with the Mark Levinson Pureplay 1800W, 17 speaker system. I thinks this system sucks! I traded in my 2014 MB C250 with the Harman Kardon surround system and it completely blows this away. Ericsson is correct in saying most of the audio comes from the front only. I am very disappointed is this system. I have emailed the Mark Levinson company (twice) and explained my concern and to ask if they have or plan to have an update for this system. They don't even have the courtesy to respond and because of that I will definitely go back to Mercedes.

I dont think mark levinson is really that good I have a 2019 lexus es and I feel like the sound is mostly coming in the front and nothing in the back.
