ok what if you take the final image again as a reference, then use MJ to make the same look, this might force MJ to blend them better than vary region alone

This has been possible since the first days of Vary Region, you can use a normal image prompt, cref or sref, makes no real odds as the second image, in 5.2 we had to put --iw 2 if it hiccupped but in general its a great tip with the V6 version & Sref. I rran tests to make sure it still owrked without sref as before.. it does. Wished I showed you in early days of Vary Region :D.

This will never look right as light doesn't behave this way. If we can see the world within the portal it means the light is entering the astronauts world. Blue light should be bouncing off every reflective surface Matt or glossy. The problem is the light from the portal is not reflected anywhere in the original image.

This is such an interesting approach to Midjourney. Thanks for sharing it.

Just image all the possible artistic combinations that will come out of this technique.

Nolan, great vid, started to give it a try- following what was done above and did some good works on it... i also tried to do it on a smaller scale meaning the object was like a crystal ball ..that had some success...so i am now figuring size plays a big part of what can be done. But will being using this in my repertoire of work ..cheers

There is no need to delete the original prompt in v6, just add to it - add same prompt as the prompt for the color element. The vary region lasso can select the whole circle, just start at the top then with the mouse follow the outline of the porthole to join at the start of the select. The color element is variable and not an exact copy of the previous star field image used in the sref.
