HMB Review: Should You Use An HMB Supplement?

HMB works great for older guys. Young guys don't get much from it. The body seems to adjust to it after several weeks and the results seem less dramatic. I love the stuff. Just doubled my dose 2 g.

You need to take about 10 times the recommended dosage. Then there is a bit of a noticeable result.

If you’re in a caloric deficit and a natural bodybuilder HMB is definitely worth it to help preserve muscle mass

It's been working great for me at almost 4 weeks of taking it, certainly giving me more muscle mass all over but particularly in my legs which have tend to be very skinny and hard to develop!

But Tony Horton sells a special new protein with HMB in it. It cost $140 for 2 lbs. It must be good right? Be careful out there folks. Worst part is that he is targeting older people with his scam protein saying it helps build muscle with no exercise.

I've read that high dosage of HMB can cause insulin resistance.

I have tried Muscletech's Clear Muscle which has an proprietary HMB in it...it does seems to work it made my muscles a little bigger. That's my experience.

I took my Dad out of an Assisted living facility. He was 79 y/o and had Dementia/ Alzheimer’s, Got him to my house and started getting him healthy. I will never forget the time I gave him HMB. I heard a lot of rumbling from his room. Walked in and he had lifted and moved his solid wood knight stands to the other side of the room and everything else... I was like what the heck! wow! Uhh, yeah..I couldn’t get too it fast enough! And sure enough it did the same thing for me. I carried a heavy item up a flight of stairs like it was nothing when I normally struggled in with arm pain when carrying things. 😊

To many people have used it with testimonials that being said CMB helps muscles from wasting away!! If u look like this guy round his age then WTF u dont need da sht probably but if you roun 50 ish a lil under weight dont work out much then u r n for a nice suprise. It worked for me, but keep in mind that during the time I wasn't eating enough, some people say that if your macros are on point then this will not help gain muscle.

HMB is largely anti-catabolic when in huge calorie deficit and/or when not taking enough protein and right before working out fasted - does NOTHING when in maintenance or when in a caloric surplus.

Hmb is terrific if yiur taking time off from the gym

Person- "no."
Thats literally the extent of those studies. Take it, staying consistent and monitor your body.

I got huge pumps and gains from a supp that had hmb. Took half of what they told me to take and it lit me up!

would this help me if I'm in a coloric deficit, i have to loose weight for boxing and id like to keep as much of my muscle as possible

Sean, I bought HMB to replace creatine I've been taking for way too long. At that point I didn't even know what HMB was exactly for. It definitely works as an anticatabolic for me, at least it's been working for first 6 weeks or so. No extra muscle gains though.

What's crazy is I still see Doctors throwing around HMB as a good workout supplement. I don't get it.

Check the 2014 studies man. Saying hmb doesn't work is like saying protein doesn't work
