I use Arch by the way and Ubuntu. I love both and neither is better than the other. In fact, outside of the installation - Arch is incredibly easy to use and would be great for beginners just like any other non LTS distro.
ОтветитьWhenever I first switched to Linux I had a lot of questions, and I would usually just look it up and there was just some documentation about the exact thing I was trying to do. I can't comprehend people not knowing how to do that. I also don't comprehend people who don't listen when forum users call them stupid. When that would happen to me I would sit there and try to figure out why they were calling me stupid, and then fixing my errors to not make the mistake in the future. Which is what you would call "learning", a seemingly foreign concept to the people described in this video.

ОтветитьExpecting to be treated like a decent human being is now arrogance?
ОтветитьI would be a Gentoo user too but ain't nobody got time for that!
ОтветитьHonestly, Arch and Gentoo users are probably better than you. (!!!) If you don't respect the extra studying and learning they have to go through to use those systems, then you probably don't respect either education, professors, teachers, engineers, lawyers, or any other profession that requires dedication and study either. And honestly, that makes you kinda dumb. With that said, all humans are ofc created equal under God and yadi, yadi, yadi. Your value to your employer, however, is principally how much money you can earn him, regardless of what kind of mountain of information or useless systems knowledge you sit on. Tho, you better monetize that sheet if you want to learn what real human value looks like. And real human value looks like food on the table for you and your family, a nice house, a car, and some spare time to spend making babies. If you don't have that, they tell you that you're "poor", but really, most of the time, it's because you're either mad as a hatter, or because nobody else sees value in the stuff you know or can make. Sorry for letting you know this. But with that said, I also hate Arch or Gentoo users who think they're better than you just for knowing some nerdy system. I'm an Arch user myself (btw), so that's usually when I ask some key questions which most other Arch users need to pull up the Arch wiki to answer. That's when we slap a juicy high five and ride off into never-never land while trying to find a better way to automate EFISTUB. Thanks for reading this far. If you did, you must be 1337!
ОтветитьOnly people who have absolutely nothing going for them brag about how exclusive their OS is.
Ответитьon a chatroom i'm on we all picked a distro and tried to run it for 6 months
first thing we all did was join the discord/matrix/irc of the distro we were running in case we ran into issues
we would try to read the manual, and if that didn't help, ask the support channel
for me it was pretty easy. the opensuse guys would just give you the answer
people that picked nixos complained the matrix wasn't any help, they just kept getting "rtfm rtfm rtfm"
I’ve been trying to do better lately about not expecting things spoon fed to me and actually reading documentation.
Ответитьwindows users have no tech knowledge and linux users have no people skills.
in other news, the sky is blue and water is wet.
It depends on the scenario. While you are correct that many an optimisation guide is worthwhile, there are other situations whereby linux user demands have helped. An example is the push towards being able to use GUI (pointy clicky). The constant whining and demands of some noobs made that intertia be overcome. It was a good thing. Thereby, both terminal and GUI can do things more nowadays.
My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.
I think most people have been so domesticated that their conception of humility is something like begging with their tails between their legs and whining how incompetent and stupid they are. It sometimes works for lazy people bc whatever authority they are pleading to takes pity and does their work for them. With linux and things like it, there is no official hierarchy, just some ppl using linux with various levels of competence. So when someone with this messed up conception of humility comes to ask help about some issue they have on linux without any preparation and 0 effort, most people just tell them to read the fucking man page, or wiki, or documentation. Clearly this is an attack on their part as they didn't take pity on the poor novice and wipe their ass for them or something \s.
Its ok to be a novice and humility doesn't mean spreading your asscheecks to let someone fuck you. (In this case) It means you recognize your the limits of your know-how and stay open to suggestions and advice. Before going on forums or whatever, try solving the problem yourself. Google the error message, read the man page etc and if you genuinely don't understand something and can't find out about it, go ask your question but you should show that you've made an effort to solve it yourself. People will engage in a more helpful manner if you do that.
I literally installed Linux yesterday because I want to learn programming like Python and HTML and I just wanted to try out the funny OS, but the online community is just, uhhh.
I can't believe I'm falling down this rabbithole over a program that shows funny graphics and is free
As a bilingual person, whose english wasn't the first language, I can understand the arch wiki perfectly. You may need to go from the guide that you need, to another link that's in the guide, and that's easy! Arch btw
ОтветитьI've actually never been made fun of for questions by arch users. Everyone bas been super welcoming for the most part.
Ответитьthis is me LOL
ОтветитьJust installed one of those Linuxes cause I had to and have come to a conclusion that it’s possible to use it efficiently only from a terminal. For me any DE sucked absolute ass compared to Mac or Windows, so I just used a terminal emulator exclusively. Once I did that, it had occurred to me how convenient and useful this way of using the system is.

ОтветитьI've using arch 1 week already and I love it
ОтветитьI enjoy Linux. I’m new. I probably do ask dumb questions too. I have bought a number of books to understand it better and thank god for the docs and wikis. I like and use fedora with KDE Plasma as the desktop and I run Manjaro off a hard drive. I found I stopped distro jumping if I have two. Fedora is my workhorse but I really love Manjaro I’m just not good enough to utilise to it’s fullest capacity. Not yet anyway. But I’ll keep trying.
ОтветитьBy saying that you're allso talking about windows users - "journalists" who keep writing their articles on the Internet complaining that "OMG Linux is so bad, Linux doesn't work the same way as Windows, Linux is so difficult, OMG, the terminal, OMG, so many distros, OMG....." :D
ОтветитьSame why Morrowind players laugh about Skyrim players complaining 🤣

This comes from my experience from modern sense of entitlement in the American population. While I cant say this doesnt happen in other countries, it certainly does but the modern American has a sense of entitlement never seen. Things like modesty, humbleness and so on are thrown out of the window and everything must be done their way. It's hard for someone to be like well I don't know enough about this let me look into it to see how it works.
ОтветитьBring back cyber bulling.
ОтветитьI honestly think Linux is a rabbit hole..and it's good.
If u use it properly, it will literally teach u everything u need.
Even something as simple as uninstalling a program teaches u something
For example, sudo pacman -R ffmpeg
And the system says, if u uninstall ffmpeg, it will fuck up some other programs...
Off I go to Google, and boom..i learn the involvement of ffmpeg in other programs..when u are learning about ffmpeg, u spot something interesting...
HANDBRAKE!....and boom, off we go again...
So, by the time u fix the original issue, u will learn a lot of things on the way...and it helped me.....
Btw I am not an Expert myself

ОтветитьI can't help myself but to think that many Linux users are using Linux just to compensate for the lack of their "tech-saviness" :-D
