So all the stories I’ve ever heard till now were of Dolphins rescuing people and chasing away sharks and such from people . Were they actually chasing sharks away so they could prey upon the person and were these rescue attempts perceived as such but actually predatory behavior? I could see how Dolphins could actually accidentally injure while being playful though like the guy getting knocked off the surfboard

The dolphin game quitting himself is MASSIVELY misinterpreted. That dolphin had a really good life - he had whole house that had been filled with water, other female dolphins, and a female human associate. After the project ended because the researcher ran out of funding (her undistracting the dolphin was not the point of the experiment) the dolphin was moved out of his nice spacious house with other dolphins and human and put into a very small tank with no enrichment. He then became depressed and gave up. This was mischaracterized into him having a broken heart because it gave better headlines, but it's very obvious the real problem is that he shifted from a good life into living in essentially a prison cell.

It's slipped my mind, I wasn't paying attention, doing something so mundane.

Nothing to fear about dolphins. There has only been one case of a person dying by a dolphin. In around 60+ years, there have occured around 2785 unprovoked shark attacks of which 439 fatal. But it's not the sharks. People are so fucking ignorant when it comes to wild animals. They don't learn about an animals' instinct and thus die or injure themselves because of it. I've seen people trying to train an alligator and then are surprised when the animal attacks them. With the world shifting to not seeing a shark as a ''threat'' anymore, I guarantee you there will be serious problems.

There are currently more than 40 species of dolphin. The only dolphin I think you could ''fear'' is the bottlenose dolphin. They typically are just a lot more agressive towards eachother. Common dolphins for example are shy and hate human interaction when they're in the water.
I still prefer to be in the water with dolphins (in the wild!!!) rather than sharks. Just don't keep them in an isolated bath tub where they're forced to live with other dolphins they don't like.
