Sad how some stranger just enters into a family becomes a spouse and can divide it. It’s pathetic for those who allow this to happen and to love a partner more than your own blood mostly because your friends and family can’t sexually satisfy you and you become controlled but you can get the same feelings from any random you meet so the pussy whipped need to know it’s bs and can be replaced. Choose real family first. The ones that sleep with you are your worst enemy. This guy turned out to be below IQ average on top of her having his balls in her purse so this sucker is a weak fool. As for judge typical moron in power like most others no matter what controlling the situation in such an idiotic manner. Only good aussie law is the spent records which years later gets wiped after they done their time, should do that in america not have a rap sheet of countless added on bs charges

This case is very similar to another homicide case happened in Toronto Canada in 2017.
A billionaire Barry Sherman, owner of Apotex, an international generic drug company, and his wife were murdered in their mansion.
The case is still not solved but police is also looking at the son who owed the victim, his father, 50+ millions.
Barry lost a lawsuit, needed the cash and requested his son to pay back the 50 million loan just weeks before the murder. No one benefits more from their death than the heir.

None of them earned the wealth, including Margret, the victim, yet all felt entitled. Fighting for their 'entitlement' is the common story of rich families. It's too familiar.

Nicely done Aussie movie. The case seems short of forensics. But the moral is, money does not necessarily make happy families.

Surely Matthew and his puppeteering wife have dirty hands. Then there was strangulation and smashing. Did Matthew smash their heads to cover up the asphyxiation by poisoning? And then moved their bodies to the woods? But which criminal will leave a crime car behind as evidence? Couldn't the smart wife think of it? Another point - Research says that women usually kill through poisoning or other stealthy ways. Men use brutal force like knives, clubs, guns, or physical assault. It fits. And why would the wife want to kill his parents? Why kill the cow that gives milk - money?

I could have sworn Merissa put something in Matthews hand at the end of the trial.
This was not justice at all. Disappointing to see the system failing yet another two victims, or rather: punishing the family, that will never know the whole truth. An IQ of 83???🤪 Enough to stand trial in Australia, clearly. 20 years ago.
I'm also sure Merissa had something to do with the events. I'd not be surprised if she planned the whole operation. She behaved grossly disrespectfull, either way.
I think I remember seeing this story on ID. I recognized the photo of the real mother and boyfriend.
My heart breaks for little Dominique. What a cute toddler they casted for that role❤!
Father a murdering idiot and mother a psychopath...talking about the genepool....

An IQ of 86? The bodies were wrapped up and chained to blocks near a dam. They didn't say whether the dam released water in the season runoff. Seems like careful planning for a man with an IQ of 86. Also, they were suffocated. The inconsistencies make this story still unsolved.

Wondering about the will left by the rich woman who was murdered by her own son and probably assisted by his wife. This is a true story ? What was the motive? Besides anger of the son, who was not treated equally he claims just becoz his pics are not on mom’s sideboard. The children will inherit millions

They did it together. She then convinced the man who loved her to take the blame so she could remain free with the son. I imagine the mother didnt approve of the daughter in law. I think she manipulated matthew to commit this crime and she helped him. But my opinion is like everyone elses...irrelevant.

What great acting and cinematography! I love to watch true crime stories because they happen with the actual lives of people.

Clearly, Matthew's actions were not only mistaken but also ill-advised, leading to the tragic outcome of taking innocent lives right at his doorstep and involving his wife in the crime. His low IQ, measured at 83, likely played a role in his poor judgment.

Regarding his wife, she should have employed her better judgment and immediately contacted the police after the crime rather than waiting all those days. A crime of such magnitude would have been difficult to conceal without eventually being discovered, and this delay was her primary error.

Nevertheless, my heart goes out to her, her child, and their future prospects. I can't muster any sympathy for Matthew given the circumstances.

What a can of worms!
This was a very dysfunctional family, lead, manipulated & controlled by a narcissistic matriarch!

The bickering & bitterness among the sisters shows the apples didnt fall far from the tree.
They were elitists & entitled
The daughters husbands fell in with what their wives told them.

Matthew with his low IQ & behavioural & emotional problems
Must have felt he was indeed ostracized from any kind of family, they were like a nest of vipers.

None of them thought Maritza was good enough for their social group, from the word go they disliked her & even though their brother had mental problems
Even if they suspected hed killed his mother & stepfather they would rather have seen Maritza charged with the murders to keep
Their social standing & family name clear, it wouldn't have worried them that she was innocent!

No wonder matthew wanted nothing to do with any of his family, he must have suffered mental anguish all his life &
Finding and marrying Maritza was his safe rock, away from the source of all his mental fragility

Even to the end the sisters, brothers, spouses vilified Maritza!
Every one in that family was damaged goods
Brought up thinking themselves above everyone else, nothing was good enough for the mother & her vile brood.

What thoroughly unpleasant people!
Matthew must have suffered so much from his family over the years & without the intelligence
To cope with such mental angst

Im pleased Maritza was able to go back to her son & get away from her horrendous in laws
& though Matthew would miss his wife & son badly, i can see how he felt liberated & stop his head from caving in, even though imprisoned, he's ironically Free
From the tangled web his mother & sisters wove him into.

Ive met people like them & they think they are above the law
The untouchables, they are arrogant to the enth degree.
What a sad, tragic story.
Peace

The cinematography in this film was excellent, sharp focus & great angles
Much of the tension & fear factor that makes a film smoulder, is the camera work &
Brilliant editing.

Some of the scariest & nail biting
Films ive ever seen arent spec/fx
Or gore fests or over the top hysteria

Its all camera work, great acting skill & class!
Im just half way through but its a good tight film

Thinking back to the Ivan Milat murders & other killings
& knowing the vastness of the
Outback its a wonder any bodies are found.

I remember when my parents & I lived in NSW in Australia years ago now but having travelled through out lying areas is so HUGE & it all looks the same, for hundreds of miles in every direction!

Still its a brilliant place to live
& i loved my time there.
Peace
