I use bumper Cap plates. I haven't had an issue yet. They're cheap, and the plate works for me. I have a vinyl floor in my basement. I hate to damage the floor, and they save me from my wife… Eventually, I will get better plates, but for starters, CAP is my go-to so far.
ОтветитьHi sir please gift me home gym dumbbell set 😊❤
ОтветитьCoop's been helping me more than I would have thought, thanks for all your home gym advice!.
ОтветитьNothing better than the sound of iron plates!
ОтветитьI just started my home gym
I went with American Barbell. They are expensive but they are top game. They look good and feels good
Ivanko RUBO's
Kinda rare but I have a large set.
Accurate, thickness of an iron plate but very good amount of cushioning (NOT like a bumper plate) but soft enough for deadlifts and very little noise. Easy to grip also. LOVE EM'!!!
I don't know how you got your pricing but this is so inaccurate.
These same CAP Weights are $75~ on Amazon and $68~ for Bumper plates, barely cheaper and much less available than iron plates.
How much money you got and are you dropping the weights? All you need to know to decide.
ОтветитьCoop, are you guys going to review weight it out's bumper plates?
ОтветитьThe iron sound is so good it have a scent, the scent of strenght, the scent of power.
ОтветитьI’ve broken many iron plates but not any bumper plates
ОтветитьBumper plates sound so lame. Iron plates are king.
ОтветитьCast iron is brittle. It can break. I didn’t know they used ductile iron in weight plates. The manganese in ductile iron definitely improves the durability of cast iron. There’s many tragic stories of people dropping cast iron tooling and breaking it meanwhile there are videos of people throwing ductile iron tools across the shop and surviving unscathed. That’s all to say iron is strong but you still want to be careful. At my university there was the dungeon gym that only had iron plates and people treated them like bumper plates.
ОтветитьI got my first plates (and bar) today. They are Rogue bumper 2.0 (colored ones) with an Ohio bar because there was a guy selling them for a good price on Facebook marketplace. Have only tried them out on a few deadlifts, but like them so far. I hate my equipment making noise, so I'm glad I've found bumpers.
The home gym is slowly coming together finally. So ready to cancel my gym membership.
Anything that’s less than a.80 cents a lb
ОтветитьGo old school and tie a half a beef carcass to ur bar… like Rocky
ОтветитьI plan on doing a lot of deadlifts, power cleans so as much as I like the sound of iron I think having mostly bumper plates is a better choice, at least in the beginning.
ОтветитьIron Coop!
ОтветитьIts called pumping iron
ОтветитьI mix, 45 fat bumpers for when the bar is contacting the ground, iron for everything else.
ОтветитьYour opinion on AmGym bumper plates? Please be as critical as you can. Pretty hard to upset me. They will be used in the basement of our house. The reason I am going with rubber/ bumper plates.
ОтветитьAny chance you could do a review on the Eleiko WPPO competition plates. They are rubber coated look thin and even have up to a 50 kg option. I can’t see any videos anywhere on any of the plates.
ОтветитьThere’s hybrids though right? Why are we acting like there’s only two types of plates?
ОтветитьI really like the slight clinking when you pull iron plates up and down.
ОтветитьNo mention of Homegrown 😂
ОтветитьI actually really want that puffy jacket, where did you get it?
ОтветитьI started my boy out on Olympic lifts. I picked up an Olympic bar for him from Rogue's Boneyard, and then bought Everyday Essentials bumper plates with the larger center hub (10's, 25's & 45's). The 25's have been used the most for 3 years now, and I'd say they work great and have held up perfectly fine. I need to get another pair of 45's at some point, but the price on these particular plates have recently gone up significantly.
My shoulders do not allow me to do the Olympic lifts, and I am more of a powerlifter, therefore I'm not frequently dropping plates from overhead. I much prefer the iron. The commercial gym by our house went to rubber coated iron plates, and they're just not the same. I was was recently gifted the Rogue deep-dish Arnold plates, and they are the most awesome plate I have ever used!!
Not related to the plates themselves, but I do NOT care for the Olympic bearing bar on all lifts. The easy spin of the sleeves is quite noticeable...especially on bench. As the weight gets heavier I'm having to use wrist wraps when using that bar. My next purchase is probably going to be a proper power bar.
Iron all the way - just wish I could lift more of them so the bar looks cool…LOL
ОтветитьDo a review of Home Grown Lifting, from KY.
ОтветитьI just got the Strength Co plates and love them
ОтветитьOne of the things you missed is the god awful smell of cheaper crumb rubber that never goes away. For me those are deal breakers. The few bumpers i have are the Fringe Savage. Very low odor.
ОтветитьWhy does he look like he doesn't lift? He may just be be a gear guy. Nothing wrong with that
ОтветитьIron all the way ,I'm in my fifties so it's a given
ОтветитьUnless you are a competition lifter the best plate is whatever you can get cheapest period
ОтветитьThe sound of iron is nice
ОтветитьHey Coop! Thoughts on fitness gear plays from Dicks vs Cap? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks been a fan of the page and have used your tips to build a budget home gym. Thanks. I would love to see a video on fitness gear products.
ОтветитьI have injured hands and have terrible grip. I love those metal CAP plates with the "handles," so I can more easily rack them. Otherwise it's a challenge to pick and rack significant amount of 45s.
ОтветитьI like the sound of IRON & these plates Lifting feel would be awesome
ОтветитьI have the Troy Premium Cast Iron plates and love them. They look good and have the deep dish to help with carrying them around.
ОтветитьFor me, age 79, who owns several strength plates, I prefer others.
1. Plates have no holes for gripping. Limits use. Difficult for fireman's carry for example.
2. 45 plates are thin, thus taller than some other brands. That makes the bar starting higher for dead lifts.
3. Plate holes are designed for tight tolerances on bar I am guessing. I prefer more slop so I can get the plates on and off the bar easier.
OK, you guys who are using 300, 400, 500 lbs in your home gym lifts/squats, then I can see strength plates.
For old-guy me, in my home gym, where I don't plan to be around for 30 more years, I prefer other brands. Just my opinion.
Why aren't rubber coated plates ever recommended in videos like this, especially when they are the best of both worlds between iron and bumper plates? I have the Rep Fitness rubber coated plates in my apartment home gym, and those things are absolutely quiet while lifting, aren't much thicker than iron plates, and continue to look great session after session. They are definitely easier to grip and handle than any bumper plates, and many iron plates too. I love them.
ОтветитьAm I the only one who dislikes that bumper plates are all the same height, (ie., 45 v. 35 v. 25)? When I'm deadlifting or any exercise from the floor, I love not having to lift the bar but just stacking 35-pound or 25-pound plates on there as I'm going through progressions. When they are all the same size, you have to hoist the bar in the air, and that takes time and energy.
ОтветитьSo much bad advices. Deep dish and calibrated are just dumb.
ОтветитьFor the budget-minded: Signature Fitness cheap amazon plates have worked fine for me (home gym use). I'm not dropping steel plates anyway. Otherwise, I'd go for the standard rogue 45lb plates, at 155 dollars per pair, that's pretty hard to beat imo.
Haven't had any issues with the CAP barbell bumpers either, but I'm not dropping from overhead anymore (I use to bumpers honestly to protect my floor). I'm happy with my cheap amazon plates, they're not stuck outside in the rain, and I could care less if the paint chips a bit.
Now, if I didn't care about cost, yeah I'd probably get the Strength Co, after shipping a pair of 45's is 20 bucks less than the deep dish.
Anyone tried Giant Lifting plates? They seem reasonable for the price.
ОтветитьNo mention of Vulcan Alphas this time?
ОтветитьI got those cheap iron plates from Dick's Sporting Goods, fitness gear I think it is. The 45s are 16 inches in diameter, throws you off when doing a deadlift
ОтветитьStrength co 100000000% the best
Ответить
