What other design terminology do you see people mix up that you think would make for a useful video?
I'm thinking one that covers tracking and kerning :)
Col.
so real man
ОтветитьOh now i get it! Thank you so much! 👍
ОтветитьV nice
ОтветитьWas struggling with this. Thank You.
ОтветитьGreat Video!
ОтветитьSome people have a different definition. Historically, in metal type, font meant the specific size and style of each typeface, with the word 'font' coming from the physical moulds that produced the metal type. This leads to the definition of 'font' as being the software that produces the typeface. So, for example, 'I wanted to use Times (typeface) but I didn't have the font,' or more specifically, perhaps, 'I wanted to use Times for this book, but it turned out I didn't have the italic font'. In this set of definitions, Times is the printed or on-screen typeface (which refers to the roman regular weight, but often gets used generally for the family) , the Times typeface family is composed of the roman, italic, bold and bold italic styles (and whatever other designs that are part of the family). Similar but different definitions.
ОтветитьThank you for the visual demonstration! This has been confusing me for YEARS! I love the album/track analogy too!
Ответитьthank you !
this really help me to understand in depth :D
thanks so much mate for giving me a better understanding of typeface and fonts with easy examples.
Ответитьfantastic analogy kudos boss.....
Ответитьthe album example is perfect!! thank u
ОтветитьGreat video and I personally found the album vs track list analogy to be very helpful. I am a young junior designer and enjoyed this video!
Ответитьwow thx for that! the minute u mentioned the album and the tracklist somthing clicked in my head!
ОтветитьSo what about Grotesque for example. Eurostile is a typeface of Grotesque and Eurostile regular is a font. But what is Grotesque exactly? Also a typeface?
ОтветитьWhat isthat
ОтветитьThat’s a good analogy- I can definitely remember that 👍
ОтветитьIntelligence is knowing the difference...wisdom, is not being the knob that interrupts someone's story to correct them
ОтветитьWOW!
ОтветитьThanks alot

ОтветитьPixel Ink you’re the best yiay
Ответитьawesome example Album & Tracks
ОтветитьWhat if the album contained only one track as in the case of mixtapes? In other words the typeface is also the font.

ОтветитьBest explanation ever!!!
ОтветитьGreat explanation! I feel I don't need to look anywhere else for information on this :)

ОтветитьThanks for this. I've been having a lot of trouble which to use between the two terms. :D Thanks!
ОтветитьYes, you got that term correct! Thanks for sharing this!
ОтветитьAppreciate the short and sweet style combined with charisma and album artwork design. Ty m8 and have a great one :)
ОтветитьExcellent explanation and analogy!

ОтветитьNice explanation! Thank you sir!
ОтветитьVery easy video and I understand all Thank you so much I am glad with subscribed this channel thank you again. See you soon man !!!
ОтветитьI think you got mixed up between 'font' and 'type family'. What you call "font" is actually type family not font. Font is the show of typeface in one size and one style..
Ответитьkerning and all tha good stuff you can do with letters :D
ОтветитьI think ur confusing between font and typeface style
Ответитьgreat ! thanks !
ОтветитьLoved this
ОтветитьThanks for the clarity! Subscribed because you're like a Scottish Steve Von Till (Neurosis)... And you design \m/
