The murals of Maxo Vanka exist in the St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church in Millvale, Pennsylvania, a small valley town located within view of the City of Pittsburgh. The church has been in existence for over 100 years, and these murals were commissioned by the church, and painted by Maksimilijan (Maxo) Vanka, in two sessions, the first in 1937, and the second in 1941. These murals depict the story of religion, peasant life, agriculture, immigration, social justice, war, motherhood, capitalism, life, and death.
I highly recommend viewing these murals during a guided tour, which are available on Saturdays during the year, and also on certain evenings during the Xmas season, by reservation . . . Peace to you, and Cheers!
