Dude... you could have stunned the aliens using flashbangs. Also, with grenades, unless you have a "Blocked" notification, just through the damn things; as long as the target is in the AOE, they'll be affected.
ОтветитьI think when they say research alien invasion they're doing things like figuring out when they started showing up, if there's any past events that could have happened due to aliens and so forth.
ОтветитьSince weapons are essentially apolitical I think you are referring to "reaction" shots rather than reactionary shots. Unless your Xenonauts are right-wing conservatives that is.
ОтветитьSo this is pretty much Xcom huh?
ОтветитьWith one click, everything goes wrong in this game. It's awesome.
ОтветитьSo here I am, taking a break from X-com Long War because the Crysalid council mission came up and I stumble upon BumpyMcSquiguns and his Xenonauts playthrough. Time to see how bumpy you really are, sir.
Ответитьso this is a carbon copy of xcom gotcha thanks for the vid i know not to buy it
ОтветитьHey I have a small question,
you showed pretty well the layout of your soldiers and what the classes can do
but what what do the other classes like the scout do and what are their characteristics?
Hey there, as a long time Xcom player and after looking at the first episode ( thanks for it!) I was wondering if there is actually anything new in this game? The Grafics are not so hot, seems to me the last XCOM installment ( that I actually got for the XBox 360) was better? At least grafics wise.
Are there any new gameplay elements? Dogfight in the air was if not new at least re done.
My sergeant used to tell us, "One grenade'll get all you ducks." Whenever he got us grouped close together. ;-D
Poor Cpl Splootch got spooged.
I was looking for X-Com related LPs and you're the first guy that doesn't have a thick accent or a need to act goofy; how refreshing. Looking forward to this series!
ОтветитьReally fantastic job explaining a complicated game. You have already helped me quite a bit with some things, and I have played all the older x-com games. Thanks so much.
ОтветитьIs it possible to rotate your units deploy positons, so you can have the heavies looking out the doors without having to rotate them, giving more TUs for movement or shooting dudes?
ОтветитьThink I'll give this game a try. I must admit, I was glad to see the newer X-Coms get rid of the tedious micromanagement. I love the original X-Com games, but I was not a fan of purchasing every single clip/grenade for my troops, and every single ammo/missile for my interceptors.
ОтветитьThanks for showing the game!
ОтветитьRight around the UFO-breach, in the old Xcom, an alien would have opened the door and drop a plasma grenade :-)
ОтветитьJoris B, did they have grenades so early on in the old XCOM games. It's been a while and I can't remember. :(
ОтветитьBumpington DC: Not in Columbia.
This should be a good slogan for your base...
Although this might be sadistic, I love watching as other people get a ridiculous amount of bad-luck as well....that panic-run-in-front-of-only-shot happens to me all the time! :(
ОтветитьAaron Foat, you'll be pleased to see the AI becoming a bit more intelligent as the game progresses. I started the LP while the game was still in Early Access on Steam. They do start coming out and murdering you eventually. :)
ОтветитьX-com sequel, yeaaaah, finally.
ОтветитьSuper sleepy so I'll watch the rest tomorrow but pretty decent so far. This game is fairly easier than the old UFO: Enemy Uknown and it has a lot of QOL changes, like human weapons being free. I personally like to run 2 assault, 1 shield, 2 sniper, 3 rifleman. Assault has pretty much the best damage point blank in the game, you want them with a lot of TU's and STR so they can move great distances fast and shoot multiple times, they're great for going around and fighting the targets from behind while shield and a rifle focus the alien attention on them, then I pair one of each snipers with a rifleman to protect them (because they don't get many shots so they usually don't kill alien targets on their own, sniper shots take a lot of TU's) and usually put them in high buildings or long alleyways, also with the aim shot and being duck they can get extremely high success rates (in the 90's) so two shots or a rifle and a sniper shot take down most aliens, specially early game.
Ответитьwow, looks EXACTLY like X-Com...
ОтветитьI hear this is like X-COM but better. Let's see if those claims are true.
ОтветитьGreat LP, you got a new sub, I love love Xcom and i just knew i would love this to, Wish i found this game back when you first started this LP.
ОтветитьYou tell us about how it may have been a bad experience if you got the original when it came out...
Dont underestimate yourself! I had it such a way! At the time i was 12, with zero english knowledge. With my cusins we mastered the game. It was the gratest time i ever had in my gaming history.
None of us knew any english at all... but we understood enough to get us excited beyond belief! The rest was just trial and error and a lot of fun. We all were really nervous and sometimes pretty scared on missions, but the exploration into such an interesting world was too good to abandon.
That game was life changing for us, i think. It started us on a mindset that was curious and critical, deepened our understanding of technology and language. Neither of us had formal training in english, nor been to an english speaking place, yet we all use it well.
So you see im pretty partial toward the original... However i do really like the new ones too. EU+ long war is really nice, and xenonauts is good, but some improvements are in order.
The overall atmosphere and air game is best in xenonauts. Both new games need some map extensions, though...
juat wanna say when you said about "you would not of been abule to play xcom original without looking up internet and stuff :) just wanted to say back then the game came with a ......i think 157 page user manual lol so thats why tats where never used back in the reading days lol
ОтветитьIn regards to what you were saying about not being able to understand the original X-COM back when it was released because there were no Internet LP's or guides: As someone who purchased and played the original back then and had an original retail box, I can say that it came with a very nice manual that explained a ton of stuff. Back then pretty much all games came with a nice thick manual (some were over 100 pages). Standardized control schemes hadn't really been formed yet so players were indeed expected to read the manual to learn how to play. That being said, the manuals were much more professional and better written than anything you see today. Of course, once standards were formed and in-game tutorials became easier to create, companies realized they could eliminate the manual, which easily cost $10-15 of the $50 retail price to create and print (since they were so large, and they hired real professionals to write them at the time). In fact, the UFOpedia in the game was huge at the time because nobody had ever really put documentation, with weapon stats, etc. into a game before. It was usually included in the box as additional documentation (or in the back of the manual).
Regarding panicking: Panicking is what makes the Bravery stat valuable. It was in X-Com too.
Great channel! :P

ОтветитьI know I'm late to the party, but I just heard about this game. I have been playing the old XCOM and enjoying it. Xenonauts looks promising.
ОтветитьThat shield guy haha!
ОтветитьMOAR XENONAUTS.....please?
ОтветитьWhy are your starting soldiers so amazing? Every single one of mine start with at least one 30-something stat, and always 1 or 2 more 40-something stats. Most of your guys are 50+ in every stat and you are complaining they aren't that great? LOL
ОтветитьI think I can watch this series, your commentary doesn't annoy the crap outta me.
Ответитьhave you heard of a manual for a game
ОтветитьRIP CPL. Splootch
ОтветитьDo you moan that much in bed? :D
ОтветитьAww c'mon man. Revisit at least Xeno 2?
Ответитьbest TBS ever
ОтветитьFirst alien ground combat...
the woman panics after being shot at one time.
Really appreciated the tutorial! Just got this game and had a lot of trouble. Looks fun!
Ответитьomg do you ever stop talking and start playing? gosh...
ОтветитьNice video, got a good laugh when you shot your buddy in the ass, but you recovered well!
ОтветитьI got xcon on ps1 back in the day, with no user manual or guide what so ever. I taught the game myself. Was very hard!
ОтветитьThat was the great thing back then in the early 90ies, there was no internet to help you out really, you played you had fun you failed and started over. Discussed with friends or classmates what they tried and experienced to be working so far as what you thought you knew. Different times, good times.
ОтветитьI know this is an older series and I don't want to nag but acceleration is measured in km/second squared
ОтветитьGyat
