I am happy with my Gas One which uses butane or propane but for a buck a can it would be wise to have a good second option. Where do you get the sterno quik for a buck?
I always enjoy watching your show because unlike others, you put things to the test. Thank you!

I have some Sterno Fuel in my preps. I also have some small chafing dishes on metal racks. You can use 3 or 4 tea light candles under the chafing dishes. Slow going for sure, but the candles will keep water hot for 2 hours. Hot enough for instant coffee and tea. Dollar Tree has packs of the tea light candles. A good investment in my opinion. Thank you, Chef Prepper. Another fantastic, down to Earth video from you. Keep them coming...you would not believe the mass majority of people who never think ahead.

Thank you for your video.

I have the old fashioned Coleman white gas stove and it's good to take it out at least once a year to use. Make sure all the gaskets are holding and all is good.
The little two hole cast iron wood fueled cook stove just sits in the barn waiting, ... and waiting, ... lol
But I'll tell you about the slickest heater cooker you'll ever make is with an old tobacco can that a roll of TB fits into snugly then soak the TP with Gas line de-icer, (Alcohol) and use the lid as a snuffer. I'll cut a couple of lids out of different sized cans to place on top of the TP and this works as a heat regulator. This unit will run for a long time. If the TP starts to turn black, it's out of fuel.
This is a wet heat so be careful inside because it will make it rain.

Have a great one and good luck.

I use liquid multi fuel stoves like Coleman, MSR, and my favorite Svea 123 and I kill the wild hogs around here for my pork and make my own bacon 🥓.

I used a colmean fuel stove for years in my kitchen. The fuel used to be a lot cheaper but still goes a long way. No co2, but burns oxygen so keep a window open.

When using your 4 can "stove" it is probably NOT a good idea to stack up other full fuel containers as "legs" for your grill, as they are likely to get hot enough to blow the lids off and cause some serious excitement in the kitchen area as you try to pull all that fuel fire out after the lids blew off and shot it all over the place.

I have a little butane stove for emergencies and camping, but my house has a propane stove and furnace, so I'm good as long as the fuel lasts.
Somewhere in the back of my shed I have a propane grill, a little BBQ and a couple of cans of Sterno with a little metal X to put on top for cooking.
I find that camping equipment, such as USB charged lights, are very good for power outages.

I was going to stock up on fuel cans like this but then I found that hand sanitizer was WAY cheaper and is ethanol instead of methanol. I picked up 8 gallons of it for $1.99 a gallon when it was on clearance after the lockdowns ended. It also has the added benefit of being able to be used as a sanitizer.

Thank you for the excellent demonstrations for alternative cooking. All of this was hard to explain just exactly how cooking with Sterno is done, safe, and affordable. The wine might lighten things up in the emergency scenario, too, God forbid!

During the six days after a hurricane left us with downed wires and no electric, and before I learned all about Sterno type cans, cooking over candles and small wood burning table top grills, I had to shift for myself with coffee in the morning. Not ideal, but I put some drip grind (my normal coffee) into a jar with a cup of water and shook it for about two minutes. I then put it through a coffee filter. The coffee taste was fine, strength was fine, but of course, the coffee was cold. As it was the middle of summer and in the 90's, this was not the worst thing. But when my neighbor, who had gas fuel offered me a cup of coffee, I jumped on it. It was delicious. I promised myself that I would arrange to never be without a way to at least boil water for coffee and tea. I didn't even mind eating out of cans for that week. But I did miss a "normal" cup of coffee. So glad to learn all this stuff from online YT'ers. Campers already know this stuff, but there are always newbies to any craft or skill, so basic teaching of basic needs are always crucial. People say, "Everybody knows this already." No, they absolutely don't. Young people don't know it, and those who never had experience or were taught by someone, don't know it. Basic learning of life essentials are always needed. How else will anyone learn anything?

anything liquid or even gel is bulky and heavy compared to some dry fuels. I have sterno, but would love to know how to DIY for the dry fuel tabs or just about the commercial ones.

I have some shortening a put in a no. 10 can and stuck about 5 stick candles in. It’s cheap and burns for a long while. I haven’t used it for cooking but I’m sure it’ll work just fine.

These work, but the fu es are toxic, so you need to use either outside or near an open window. Not for indoor use. Check the Ready Hour brands. More money, but they are safe for indoor use.
