7ft 7 or 7ft 9 is a freak size where the body can not function and coordination speed and flexibility are so affected it makes them crappy and slow and all they can do is dunk and block, But because they are so slow and uncoordinated makes them not very effective. Wilt was 7ft 1 and played like a 6ft 5 player. He was super fast in his prime and very coordinated and had good foot speed and good moves. He also could put up crazy scoring numbers and jump out of the gym. These freak-sized guys can not jump very high so Wilt could block them despite the 5-inch height difference plus he was just as quick or quicker than the small guys Kareem was also very coordinated and graceful. These guys were super tall but not so tall that it made them slow and uncoordinated.

Looks like 7ft or 7ft 5 is the max height you can play at 7ft 2 or 7ft 1 like Wilt is the optimum height where coordination and height are maximized for optimum player efficiency.

It's not really they are too big. They just can't move or are too thin and not strong enough or too unskilled or can't stay healthy. And that's the big thing. There are all sorts of joint foot and back issues that huge guys have. The human frame isn't really meant to be that big.
