Phew. 3 and a half hours long. 3 years in the making. 30 locations visited. 100 sources used. 15 hours upload time. Delighted to finally have this out there. I’ll sort out a detailed bibliography and list of sources I used once I have recovered my mind a little... cheers all. Don’t forget to like and comment if you enjoyed this vid as it helps the algorithm to make it worthwhile and makes more projects like this one possible in the future. If you enjoyed it consider subscribing for 100+ other vids I’ve already made plus tons more epics in the future. Hopefully soon I should be able to travel overseas again and widen the focus out a bit from Britain once again!! Cheers for watching. Catch y’all next time.
ОтветитьI love these videos. BUT the drums fading in and out all the time triggered my Jumanji trauma, for real XD
ОтветитьFascinating
Great job!
Devolution for the north !!
ОтветитьExcellent documentary. Reminded me of the 70s when this type of programme flourished. Thoroughly researched & perfectly paced.

ОтветитьThis was truly epic. Thank you.
Ответитьaccording to Chinese chroniclers in or around 543 based on how they detail time a great thunder to the south west was recorded recent investigations found that a volcano did erupt.. Krakatau is the most likely culprit. and the bubonic plague needs a temperature of 25c to cause a clot in the fleas stomach to cause it to starve and jump host to host vainly feeding but in the process passes on the bacterium and this darkness that swept the world made the sun a dim orangish brown in the dark haze three years with out summer crop failures world wide starvation weakened bodies and when the plague arrived in cornwall our ancesters were in no physical condition to fight it. this is the more prosaic explenation so between 543 till 553 there was a significant population decline and based on digs.. in Britain warfare didnt increase till the latter half of the sixth century during the recovery the complete lack of battle damage to Anglo Saxon graves of the invasion period seems to rule out invasion but.. there may be more graves as yet unfound
Ответитьnot meaning to sound like a twit.. but.. why couldnt the Saxon hirelings of rome.. a phenomenon since the mid three hundreds not still have been in Britain after Rome began pulling out. they are documented as being craftsman ships crew and merchants along with mercenaries on the wall to suppliment the smaller garrison. for a century or more.. family connections would have been forged creating a Gallo Saxon mix of cultures considering that Anglo Saxon the language.. is Breton with saxon loan words. the syntax of Anglo Saxon is.. Brythonic gaelic the exact Saxon dialect the words come from is Frisian its not all that hard to imagine that those half and quarter saxon descendents would maintain trade relations with their Frisian Brethren
ОтветитьFantastic video.. Thankyou for putting it all together... I find it really interesting al this historic stuff... Youve done a brilliant job.

ОтветитьA LOVELY, Well-Researched / Well-Constructed / Beautifully Time-Line Presented, AND with appreciatively representative imagery.👌
Your obviously arduous extended efforts to compile this and other vids is to be admired, amigo = Thank You!!! 😎
PS: What I would have liked to have seen was a short segway defining the accurate story of The Historically Famed Red Hand Of Ulster..... 👍
Very well done.

It's pronounced like "Dawl Reada" not "Dal Riata"
It's an Irish word, don't read it as an English word.
You don't read French as English, no one say "Crow-Is-Sant" when reading Croissant
So please don't do that to Irish ^^
The Britons? Ask the the Scottish the welsh and Irish aswell as others if the britons was a think back then?
ОтветитьI would say this type of effort and quality should be rewarded with some sort of full on documentary deal, but I have a feeling that the quality could not be replicated with a “Netflix deal” or whatever else you may be offered. Creative freedom and being able to make your own decisions and own your own business seems more worthwhile than that.
ОтветитьI’ve watched all 20 seasons of Time Team, countless other documentaries. This is the best, most rounded explanation of post-Roman England I’ve seen yet.
ОтветитьFascinating. Very well done.
ОтветитьYeah!
ОтветитьFantastic...Historical footage and nice voice to listen to.
ОтветитьGreat work! 1man army too very impressive
ОтветитьThis man is incredible…..
😂🎉😊❤
I’ve been dipping into all British history sources for the last forty years, but this fantastic journey through them, related importantly to archaeology and geography, joined many many dots, and gives me a better framework for my book on the Pict Stones origins etc
Also I’ve been coalescing the nature of the 535 AD event, and subsequent ‘wasteland’ metaphor, and ‘Arthurian’ metaphors.
Wow….dots aligning!
Thank you!!

ОтветитьBrilliant documentary.i love your videos. They are brilliant. We know it takes a lot of time and hard work to make these videos. Love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰🤝🏴.
ОтветитьAbsolutely amazing documentary. And I too would like to detach my head and float around. When you read that I laughed so hard I scared my dogs. Thank you for this lovely work.
ОтветитьIts not hard to slot a desolate wasteland into the Arthurian legend. That being the search for the grail in a rotting, bloody, wasteland and the king and the land being one. Ailing King, ailing land, find the grail, restore the king and the land.
ОтветитьGreat work!
ОтветитьAmazing documentary
ОтветитьBrilliant. Absolutely brilliant. When are you receiving your honorary doctorate?!?
ОтветитьReally enjoyed this! Thanks for your efforts!!!
ОтветитьExcellent testimonial to the fact that humans have always been a stupid uncivilized murderous animal. Murdering, materialistic, morons doing as they're told, brother butchering brother. Still stupid, still butchering
