Shaun! Do you have any tips for matching into anesthesiology specifically without a home program? I’m a second year USMD also at a school with no home program and its been really hard to find mentors and research 🥲
ОтветитьDo you do the trans esophageal or transthorakal echokardiograms alone? Or how is it? You donit withthe help of your attending?
ОтветитьJust a recommendation from a CT technologist. Start putting educational videos about different pathologies. each video talk about a single random pathology. You can make lots of these videos and people would love them.
ОтветитьHope you continue to do these vlogs. I really enjoy them and want to continue to follow your journey.
ОтветитьI've been watching your vids for the past few months and holy shoot man! Your channel is going nuts! Obviously, you are doing something right. Carry on man!
ОтветитьI am in a pre-med college course this year, I hope I can get the "M.D" in my name in the future! your video helps a lot in my motivation to move forward thanks as always!! Good luck to you also!
Ответитьis it possible for me to handle being a neurologist and a writer? both are my passions and i refuse to pick
ОтветитьI enjoy watching your videos! You are great doctor and am sure you will be wonderful and caring!
ОтветитьMy question is how will you balance the Dogs and residency when you are in San Diego?
ОтветитьYou're doing great shaun, really appreciate the vlogs definitely don't let a small group of people tear you down. Especially since this is cool way to journal your life. Good luck on your race. For the q&a a few questions i had are about money and dating,
Regarding money you had mentioned before you are pretty savy when it comes personal fiance is there any specfic tips or advice you have for people in medical field or pwople in general in regards to saving, financially preparing to move to a new city, paying tution and investing so forth.
For dating/relationships you had mentioned before that you have to be intentional when it comes balancing life/work do you have additional tips to residents are trying to meet people, make friends in a new city or things you are planning to do meet people/date
Maybe a spicy question 😂 money related: what is first thing you are looking to forwaed to buy or get or do when you start making attending money or in later residency years.
Thanks for your videos
I really value your content, it keeps me motivated to work towards medical school and residency and still have a life outside of my work/studies! My question for the Q/A! Do you feel like your program supports you to have a work-life balance, and was that apart of your decision to accept that residency offer? Were there others you could have chosen with a similar supportive environment?
Thank you!
My son is in his freshman year at UNLV. And hopes to go to UNLV Medical one day. Your videos truly help so much. He is majoring in kinesiology with hopes to be a sports medicine doctor.
Keep doing what you are doing.
I do wonder though, now that you did bring it up. Why is it that medicine has this "thing", where your entire life is supposed to be centered around it. Whether you are inside or outside the hospital you gotta breathe medicine wherever you go, even having a normal life is apparently "messing about". Has it always been like this? I mean, is it the public's fault or the older generation of doctors? As a medical student myself (end of 1st year in a 7 year course outside US), as much as I love medicine I just want to be able to live a regular normal life outside of my job. I'm glad that you are showing us the importance of work-life balance Shaun, it makes the few of us who care about it feel better about ourselves! :)
ОтветитьDamn your a busy man!!! Work hard, Play hard 💪🏽
ОтветитьLove ur vlogs!! It’s great to see young up & coming physicians living their best lives!! As far as skincare….watch ur excess sugar/processed food intake which I know is hard with being in the hospital all the time..but if you can tweak that your skin will change. If sugar alone doesn’t clear it, watch your gluten intake. The skin is telling you that your gut doesn’t like something you are taking in…try that & id love to know your results!!
ОтветитьWhat happend to ally ur gf?
Ответитьkeep it up with the vlogs man, you got a great loyal audience over here that far surpasses some of the stuff i've done on my channel (whether or not you want to believe it). it is rare to have people come to your videos for YOU. not for your career, and not for what you make, but for you. don't let the sub count fool you, just look at the engagement you're getting and the community you're building. cheering you on from a far buddy
ОтветитьHey Shaun i want to say that i don’t remember exactly when i came across your channel but it has been a long time ago. I remember screenshotting me watching your video and dm’ing you on instagram and you responding back. It has been awesome watching your journey on becoming a doctor. I know a few about anesthesia since i work in pain management as a medical assistant so it’s definitely rewarding. We need more people showing what it’s actually like working in the healthcare field regardless of what job role or title they have.
ОтветитьMy friend did the Spartan race this weekend - I told him to lookout for you haha. Love your vlogs. Take care! :)
ОтветитьPLEASE drop your morning playlist!!!! BOMB
ОтветитьWhat year of residency are you? How many do you have to do to transfer for anesthesiologist? Ps I can’t believe the fire is all the way in Vegas! I’m right next to the line fire and bridge fire and the first few days was nuts!
ОтветитьThat was one heck of a click bait LOL… Never do this haha.. as always awesome vlog and such a nice ted talk or should I say shauntalk!
ОтветитьLove your video, keep them coming. Having interest outside of medicine will help keep your sanity
ОтветитьMr. Goodboy is perfect name for the pup.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing your journey and proud of your consistency! 🍀
Ответитьwhat is your hair routine, it looks great I’m jealous lol
ОтветитьThank you for not being serious about that click bait title!
ОтветитьYou are an inspiration to many aspiring med students!
Your positivity and commitment to the practice does make a positive impact.
Thank you for serving as an inspiration :)
Is your Vlog creating a nice side stream income?
ОтветитьAs a person reading in grade 10 who is super passionate about getting into med school with a dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. I want to ask that do u really not get enough leisure time in Residency or after being a surgeon.
Ответитьkeep doing you Shaun, your doing great doing your job and your passions its inspiring!
ОтветитьQuestion for the q&a - what advice do you have for third and fourth year med students?
ОтветитьHow did u decide on anesthesia?? Any tips for someone who is confused about the branch??
ОтветитьDude I’m a physician…don’t for a minute feel you have to respond to an idiot hater who probably can’t get into medical school. My guess is the vlog made you an intriguing candidate for residency. Residency is way too hard to not spend free time outside of residency living your life any way you want, doing something besides medicine
ОтветитьFor Q&A: Any tips for someone trying to match anesthesia in NYC who is from the Midwest?
ОтветитьI have enjoyed watching your med school/residency journey. I have a daughter who is a junior pre med major (Biology) in college. Since high school, she has had the med school goal. For now, she wants to be an orthopedic surgeon. She hasn’t seen but a few of your vlogs due to her studies and tutoring. I have been passing along your insights on how to study to making time for herself! She has started studying for MCAT. I am not familiar with all the next steps in her career path, but I a learning how I can help her in the future! Her dad is a CRNA. He loves his job going on 14 years! He makes hints about anesthesia being the best! From a mom’s perspective, thanks for all the helpful hints to survive this journey with my girl!😊
ОтветитьI have been wanting to pursue becoming a CRNA, but I haven't been able to pass my 1st semester of my nursing program, to obtain my BSN. I have been stuck and don't know what to do. Nursing just seems hard for me, and I feel like im wasting my time and money. Any advice? 25 y/o with associates degree
ОтветитьHeck yeah Shaun!! I love your content and yes I believe no matter what profession you’re in you have got to prioritize the stuff that makes you happy and enjoy. Like you said before work life balance
ОтветитьIs that brandon with you in the car?
ОтветитьAnybody know how old Shaun is?
ОтветитьSad to see you go. All the best in your career!
ОтветитьSan Diego is a beautiful city you’ll enjoy it!! Been here 27 years 😁
ОтветитьJust found your channel and been binge watching. I love it keep it up! UNLESS it messes with your job. Its just very cool to see the behind the scenes.
ОтветитьShaun, I'm so happy every time I see you posted a video. The fact that doctors do stuff unrelated to their job is inspiring to me - it teaches me how to manage my time better to be able to do something fun before/ after work. 😊
ОтветитьI enjoyed watching your VLogs. Thanks for sharing your journey as a great future Doctor.
Ответитьso what your doing now is a transition year and not your official residency at UCSD yet or how does that work?
Ответить10000 likes and I quit residency? 👀 jk (I think) but seriously comment below your questions about residency/life for next week’s Q&A! 🎉
