Gonna try this! I have sulfur water
ОтветитьHi Andrea, I just cleaned the inside of our toilet tank with Citric Acid. OMG what a difference!! It looks brand new!! Thank you for your recommendation and tip!!
ОтветитьI used wht.vinger a little brush wait 2 flush about 15min.jets are clean tank is fine!! I would think the citric acid would affect those rubber rings in the bottom of the toilet tank so I'm going this route with the white vinegar it's fine the Jets are clean inside of the tank isn't spic and span but a lot of junk came off I'll do this once in a while I can see where the rubber rings would be affected on the bottom of the tank
ОтветитьDoes this acid hurt any of the parts inside the tank????
ОтветитьIt won't damage the flapper or anything that bleach will corrode ?
ОтветитьThe bleach just bleaches the color, you still need to scrub the sides. Use a $1 Plastic Kitchen Dish/Glass Brush.
ОтветитьLooks better
Ответить🙏
ОтветитьHave you tried vinegar and soda? it worked for my toilet.
ОтветитьEasiest and fastest you say? Next time you rebuild the tank, about every 3-5 yrs. Take the tank outside and CAREFULLY pour muriatic acid in the tank. Just enough to coat it. Let sit for 5 mins, rinse off with garden hose. Clean like new!
Ответитьthats a very old toilet , not seen one like that since the 80s ! the basic plunger/lever flush style, also toilet blocks damage seals and cause slow leaks
ОтветитьWe have a toilet that isn't used very much and it always has rusty stains. I did this citric acid cleaning and it was amazing. The only thing is that it cleaned so well that it ate away all the rust that was keeping the old hardened toilet flap working so my husband had to replace the inner workings of it.
ОтветитьJust did this with the citric acid, WOW!! Thanks
ОтветитьHello. Thanks for this. I was a little skeptical, but just tried this one one of my toilets and it TOTALLY worked! Thank you!
ОтветитьI have used the splashless Clorox bleach for laundry. Not only does it not work for stains, the nice bleach smell is gone. My daughter called me saying that she also was not impressed and that she doubled the amount she used to use and it still is unsatisfactory. I will not buy the splashless anymore. I think they put some thickening agent in it , perhaps methylcellulose (wood pulp powder) but the good old bleach well I hope it is still available.
Ответитьthank you, gonna try the citric acid
ОтветитьI love it too! Will clean my toilet tanks this week without scrubbing. 👏 👏 👏
ОтветитьWhy not put the citric acid in the warm water bucket then pour into the bowl???
Ответить“Curious minds needs to know”
Did the thought never occur to you to incorporate the citric acid into the bucket and stir it instead of pouring it into the water tank?
I dont know about the cleaning methods I will try them but I must say you have awesome nails
ОтветитьYour Bleach solution was far too weak. Should have used about 1 to 3 ratio, minimum. 50/50 would have been even better. Like the Citric crystals though. Gotta go find that myself.
ОтветитьSome makers of toilet float valve mechanisms warn against using cleaning products that contain or generate chlorine bleach (soidum hypochlorite solution), because (they say) it will damage the float valve mechanism. That warning precludes using some (many) of the tablet-style, per-flush cleaning options. I'm not sure if a one-shot, short-term exposure to chlorine bleach, as in this video, would have the same potentially damaging effects as long-term exposure to the chemicals in those tablets. Just a thought.
ОтветитьNot good to put bleach in your septic, it kills the good bacteria that kills the bad bacteria
ОтветитьBleach is actually formulated to work as good or better with cold water
ОтветитьI have a question I know someone who has a toilet with assistant inside the tank. Its a. Big motor They cannot. Put anything in tank maintenance would to fix it
ОтветитьBleach will disintegrate the rubber parts in your toilet tank, so don’t use it ! However, you can use it in the toilet bowl not the toilet tank.
ОтветитьThank you! Definitely trying this on my nasty toilet. I was worried about ruining the rubber seal but this is perfect!
ОтветитьThank you, honey!
ОтветитьShould you allow citrus acid to flush into a septic tank?
ОтветитьI read a good post awhile back from a cleaning lady that cleaned offices at
night when they were closed. When she started her shift, she poured Kool Aid
in the tanks every night when she started. The Kool Aid contains citric acid and
that's what I've been using and it works good. She said the toilets at the offices
where she worked were all sparkling clean, from the Kool Aid. I did not believe
it at first but it does work.
Is this ok for septic systems, citric acid? I’m doing this if it is ❤️thank you for the great info.
ОтветитьI thought I should mention the splash less bleach is not the same as regular bleach so they say I’m not 100% sure but I thought when I heard this that I checked and it wasn’t the same but still it’s been a while so I’m not 100% sure but just saying you should check
ОтветитьCitric acid more effective !
ОтветитьIs this process safe for septic tanks/systems too?
I didn't hear you mention this point.
Iron out works great
ОтветитьNice ring lol very helpful tho
Ответитьthe bleach won't remove the mineral stains, but it will disinfect (kill all the germies) and remove simple stains. It will not remove mineral build-up as this build up is not a simple stain but layers and layers of minerals.
It might be a good idea to fully flush out the citric acid and then drizzle a higher concentration of bleach to kill the mold, disinfect, and remove any stains left over. I don't know if citric acid accomplishes any of those benefits, but I would fully rinse and flush the citric acid before I would even think of using chlorine bleach, and fully ventilate the bathroom even if this means opening the windows in January and using a fan.
Chlorine gas was what the Germans used in WWI. My husband's maternal grandfather got a minor half-breath of this gas in France. It burns out your lungs and throat and is a horrible way to die. Pappous Athanaseous did not die from the initial inhalation, but died from respiratory complications due to this incident. He did live long enough to have fathered four children, one of them being my wonderful mother-in-law <3 . Chlorine is nothing to screw around with, just sayin'
That was a very nice video. He threw a very nice presentation.. I'm quite a gorgeous ring may I say obviously I'm not going to let my wife look at this video.
ОтветитьGenius idea
ОтветитьBleach doesn't break down calcium and lime. Citric acid does. Citric acid is also edible and completely safe.
ОтветитьChlorine would be useful if you had mold but wouldn’t help dissolve the calcium in the hard water deposits like citric acid does.
ОтветитьI'm getting ready to try a dishwasher tablet in my toilets- leave overnight- hopefully it will work. Thank you for your citric acid vs.bleach video- anything beats scrubbing!
ОтветитьWould that hurt a septic tank?
ОтветитьAndrea, Thank you! Have well water and tanks do get funky. I have scrubbed in the past and it never worked well and was a real mess. Did citric acid as you recommended, and tanks are completely white!. I mean like brand new! I love them clean, but it will keep all the flush parts working well also.
ОтветитьHave you heard of gardening Vinegar if you need a stronger vinegar for cleaning check out 30% stronger vinegar you will have to wear chemical gloves and it was $20 for a gallon I don’t remember the name of it but it is a gardening vinegar have a blessed day
ОтветитьBleach is not made as good as it used to be made. There are a lot of stains that I cannot get rid of like I used to with bleach. The same goes for Clorox bleach and store brand bleach.
ОтветитьUse IRON OUT at Publix they sell this, pour into the bath water tank about 1/2 cup o little more and leave it for an hour or two when you come back and uncover it it will have eaten all the rust out of the tank leaving it just like it was when you bought it at the store this product is unbelievably good
Ответитьcitric acid
ОтветитьWow! I am so going to try this!
Ответить
