I love you
ОтветитьGlue basting is so great for bias tape. Elmers works fine.
ОтветитьIf stitching is skipping on stretch fabrics, means your needle isn't ballpoint or is blunt.
ОтветитьWhere'd you get your mannequin from?
ОтветитьI’ve never heard “Gobbledygook” actually used in a sentence before. It was a word that only lived in my head. Was totally tickled to hear it 😂. Ps. Great video lol
Ответитьlove a walking foot but HATE installing it
ОтветитьAhhh, so many of these have tools that can be had for reasonable prices. A ruffler can pleat, ruffle, and attach (though a gathering foot can also work), a rolled hem foot comes in basically every size known to man, etc. I get being thrifty, but if you're doing these things often enough to need a hack, please just invest in the tool for yourself!
ОтветитьI have the paper made bias turner bc the newer purchased ones werent available back when i made the paper one 🤣. It's folded over on itself with an extra hole and hasnt failed me yet!
ОтветитьI disagree with the jeans because you did it wrong. You should’ve moved the sewing thread up higher on the line of the previous thread. Mark you did it too low.
ОтветитьI will never ever police you, I promise! Hehe I am fairly new to sewing all around. I started by hand sewing which I love more than the machine tbh. I know there are certain ways to see things together, but I prefer my shortcuts. Sewing can be very tedious work and I just want it to be as easy as possible. I love my brother sewing machine I got secondhand for 20 bucks but I feel like I have more control with hand sewing. I am working on a zippered roll up organizer now and I know I would have the police all over me with this project but I am doing it by hand and it's easier and it will end up with the same results. I am now empowered with zipper training! Yeah, I've gone a little overboard but wow it does change your life. Hehe
ОтветитьI love glue stick for jersey sooo much
ОтветитьI find it so peaceful hearing her talk 🥹🥺🌟 and the baby
God bless her 🙏🏻
I use water soluble sticks for crafts for when I hand quilt. 😂
It works great!
Every grandma had sewing glue sticks and no sew in her kit. It is so helpful.
ОтветитьI’m a beginner and I don’t understand a word here but I like your explanations here and there which wants me to continue watching and learning !
ОтветитьMaybe change the needle. I find a dull needle causes skipped stitches.
ОтветитьI have used the little Elmers glue pens with the little brush from time to time, but I’m more inclined to use clips.
ОтветитьOoooor a metal hanger to turn straps
ОтветитьDitch the masking tape and keep a roll of painter's tape, and you won't have to worry about residue.
ОтветитьI have used glue sticks for years. I've used it for basting a paper to the underside of something that I'm going to embroider, darn, patch or if the fabric is slippery to handle. I've also glued fabric to fabric, like on a patch or applique. The glue will wash right out. If you are using it on something that is not washable, take the paper off as soon as possible. Under the right circumstances, the two items glued together can become one, unless water is applied.
ОтветитьHaving just gotten an overlocker recently, those hacks are delightful! Cannot wait to use them on my next project!
ОтветитьAm i the only One Who sewed on glued fabric and my sewing machine decided to get Stuck every ten seconds because the glued got transferred on the needle while sewing? 😅😂
ОтветитьHey Wendy! Thanks for referencing my gathering video 🥰 loved your whole vid! xx
ОтветитьI feel like one of the biggest advantages of making my own clothes is no scratchy labels in my neck, so the first one made my head spin. 🤣
ОтветитьOmg I always have the same problem with the overlocker I’m deffo gonna try pivoting it from now on!! That finish was cleaaaan 😮💨
I love fabric glue!! I use it for my labels and placing pockets - such life saver!!!! Always a clean finish and super sturdy when sewing. Deffo recommend that to anyone who sews it’s such a great hack 🔥
Walking foot/tape hack is mostly for thick/sticky material, multiple layers or if you are playing with minky or i assume velvet. I used it for making nappies. For stretch i just go to my serger/overlocker. Skipped stitches i have learned is either tension or new needle (either new one or different style) or you need to clean under the bobbin plate.
ОтветитьUsed to sew professionally- we would tie a single knot in one thread and pull the other through to create one tiny knot that was small enough to pass through the needle. It wasnt very secure so you have to be careful when pulling, but it saves an extra few seconds of threading 😂
ОтветитьHi, Just qustion for you? When you were using the cardboard to make the bias tape, did you cut the strips on the bias?
ОтветитьFor basting long sections or something you know has to come out eventually, I've always thought the machine baste is to short plus I'm a tad lazy, could you use the darning foot, or regular foot really, just drop the feed dogs and baste the stitch length you want?
ОтветитьI use a cardboard hacked thing like the bias tape hack for making handbag handles. Bias tape makers aren’t large enough for the handles and life is too short to be fussing over all that pressing without a guide!
ОтветитьTotally off topic but I love the way your blush compliments your face shape! it looks so good!
ОтветитьYes skipping stitches is a problem! That and the needle getting tangled into the literal first spot when I try to “set” it at the beginning.
ОтветитьYES to glue!
ОтветитьI don’t prefold bias binding anymore. I cut the strips and send it through a binding attachment. Most coverstitch machines will have an attachment to buy for them, but there are generic ones. Attach it to your regular machine with masking tape or poster putty. I like poster putty for making adjustments while feeding it through. Press the bound edge after sewing.
ОтветитьThere is a hack that actually works for turning tubes but it only works if the tube is open on both sides. You have to cut a small hole on the side. Then you place a bobby pin where one leg goes from the outer side through the hole you cut and the other leg sits inside. Then you pull onto the bobby pin and it will turn the tube into itself pretty easily.
ОтветитьI really like your voice :) it is so nice to listen to!
ОтветитьGlue... I hesitated as getting glue on the needle is a nightmare. Will give it a try, but it seems the glue must dry before stitching. Gathering with tension & length adjusted: LOVE it, have used it for years myself. Thread cutting & pulling the next color through can work, BUT no, no not on the air feed machines. I hold the tread tails & let the machine feed it through until it gets to the needle eye. Pivot at edge... will start doing that one today! And finally the one tip you gave along the way... PRACTICE! Always make a test sample. When doing a project, I sometimes make a mini sample of the garment to get any learning done before working the actual fabric. Ideal to use a similar fabric to the planned garment for best end results.
ОтветитьI use school glue sticks all the time for quilting to get those perfectly-matched points.
ОтветитьThe card stock with bias tape might work, but I just bought a whole set of devices made of metal that do the same thing. They will most likely last long enough for me.
ОтветитьWow! I’d never even heard of this kind of mattress! It’ll definitely be the next one I buy, and since I’m older it may last the rest of my lifetime!
ОтветитьBy no means am i a pro, im going to definitely try a couple of these!
Ответить❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьYour voice is so relaxing
ОтветитьThere are foot attachments for rolled hems
Ответитьdoes anyone know which Bernini machine is being used here? the link in descriptions isn't working
ОтветитьI'm going to be honest, fabric glue changed my life a few years ago when i discovered it lol. Best invention ever
ОтветитьI use the sewline glue when I’m doing quilt appliqué
ОтветитьAlso if you're skipping stitches in stretchy fabrics you might have the wrong needle on your machine!
