as someone who played ToTK since launch and is obsessed, and also as someone who's never even played Baldur's Gate but seen plenty of content, even /I/ would vote for BG3 over ToTK lol

When publishers say that a certain game is the exception and not the rule, and to not compare other games and future releases on it, really proves that it raised the bar by a mile.

I have played rpgs for my whole life. But I still haven't played TOTK and I'm still more excited to play it than I was playing bg3.

So many awards for the inner works of gaming seems more like corporate circle jerk.
Not to mention so many genre categories when most modern games tend to have rpg elements.
Why are esports categories included here too? Shouldn't esports have their own award show?

The only real no contest imo here would have to be Tears of the Kingdom for Game Direction. While yes, its Ultrahand and Recall had basis from Breath of the Wild, you have to consider all the hoops and hurdles Nintendo had to do to even get them to function, as well as Fuse and Ascend. Tons of other developers thought what they did with those was an impossible feat, so I just feel it's just right that Tears gets the win for Game Direction.
