Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Review - A Masterful Follow-up to Remake

Got my platinum last month. Amazing game. I wish I could experience it for the first time over and over

I'm glad they gave us enough Midgar to get tired of it. It hit a weird nostalgic spot as it was the same way in the original game. Waiting for the next game is the worst part about this remake. It'll be really cool to play it all back-to-back when the project is completed. I didn't actually finish Intergrade. I've been sitting at the end waiting for the next one to drop. Now I can finally finish that one. I'll probably do the same thing again.

FF7 Remake is such a slog to go through, coming from a long time FF7 fan. Really hoping Rebirth is better, since it's finally coming out soon.

Im in the minority of gamers who thoroughly enjoyed 15. Platinum trophy on it and currently im on chapter 12 of remake and couldnt help but wonder why it feels so guided and wasn't made open world everything from walking to having to go to blue marks to be able to ascend/descend different areas seems sort of dated to me thank god thats fixed in a sense with rebirth just wish their plan of spanning these games out for the complete story didnt take 4 years, also had to pull the devs off and on the kingdom hearts projects which delays both games

Bro even as a kid playing the OG FF7 I couldn't stand the entire Midgard act.
Watching the game blow up like that after fighting through Midgard was amazing though.

My problem with remake was that it was too little substance stretched into a full game. So you had long boring sections. Mostly because I think it shouldn’t have been 3 games. One long game or 2 games at most but not 3. How is this one in that way? Are there long sections that are dull with lame side quest?

Rebirth is trash. I couldn't make it to the end because I got sick of it. Being able to choose your team is the only thing Rebirth did better than Remake.

This game doesn’t demand high replay like FF7 Remake. The story is lame and God! It’s too many mini games!!!

A long time ago in a life far far away.....I was 19 when Final Fantasy VII released. The first game to take me away from the constant replay of VI, purchase of my then 3rd game system, cheating Blockbuster paying a $20 destruction fine to keep the game, etc. It was a great game. (After you leave Midgar of course)
Here we are 25 years later......quarter century y'all, (Let that sink in everyone.) and I just completed VII Rebirth.
I loved it. The story makes perfect sense to me. But I also know the entire compilation minus Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. One spot of spoken dialogue from Sephiroth made me realize EVERYTHING released thus far matters:
"You can't save her. ~You can't save anyone. Not even yourself~." Cloud said that of himself in his conversation with Tifa in Advent Children.
Seems Square and Final Fantasy have finally hit their high marks once more. Starting with XV, and going on to Remake, XVI, and Rebirth....all being solid and great games. I cannot wait for the final part of the trilogy, and to see what they do with XVII. Honestly did y'all think they would make it long enough to add a X to VII...? I didn't.

Hello Cowboy, I love your guide and videos, but please if you could add time stamps, they'd be so much better!

150 hrs for me in my first playthrough. Yeah I wasn't in a rush, just wanted to soak up this beautiful open region world they created while taking part in exhilarating combat listening to an OST that's on fire especially during boss fights. My only gripe is there were too many mini-games and they didn't give us a skip option for games you had to win to complete quests. I know stating that can ruffle some Chocobo feathers but they just aren't my thing. Also they could have added some more accessibility options. Overall it was a masterpiece. 9/10.

overall i'd say like an 8-9/10. It's more that there's systems that I just don't fucking understand why they're called what they're called that drives me nuts
And blocking isn't reactive enough at all
Like, why is the menu option called Upgrade Weapons. There's no upgrading of the weapon happening
Why is there a "vendor" type person for the gridsphere thing? I can't change my grid, or my folio, so I shouldn't have a vendor for it
Party AI needs some sort of gambit system or at least some better orders. I want to tell my party "only attack the things I'm attacking"

Can you turn down the game volume in your reviews? It sometimes becomes a mess of sounds with the game sounds in the background and you talking about the game at the same time.

this game has a lot of issues

I’m 24 years old and playing right now and no other single player game has made me smile from cheek to cheek like this game has in over a decade. It makes me feel like I’m playing video games for the first time again

5 to 10 hours at least I'm over 11 hours and still in the grasslands

Absolutely love it combat 6/5, story was ok they will really need to pull it together in part 3 4/5, my biggest criticism is Cloud. Yes the influence of Sepharoth is apparent but in the original he was not as cold to the team. He is a dick to everyone the whole game!! The end of remake Cloud was bonded with his team and it felt like he took 30 steps backwards. The Tifa segment after the prologue really threw me off.

Just finished it. This is the best game i have ever played in my life.

Combat in this game makes my eyes glaze over. Think I got to chapter 6 before I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Characters don't even talk like normal people and the story is pretty uninteresting, when you even get it considering it seems more focused on wasting time. Saying this is the best FF game is a wild ass take.

I thought the mini games were way too many excessive but enjoyed them more on my second playthrough, I actually enjoyed the game a lot more on my second run than the first and was happy to know the lvl cap is 70 instead of 50, more than anything I love the combat, some of the voice acting is horrendously irritating and even cloud says to yuffie at some point "please shut up" gosh whiney voices irk me something fierce, despite all this it's a phenomenal well thought out and written game, who on earth knows how long we'll be waiting for part 3, which some are debating it will be a ps6 launch title, which i hope not I don't wanna hear about ps6 for at least another 3 years, but I guess the next ff anything will be ff16's leviathan dlc which im heaps excited for, i heaps hope you cover that, awesome review you've done on this, take care till the next one 😊👍

the issue owith lighting was present in the previous game as well. I think they tried to imitate HDR but with not the best outcome

I should stop playing sekiro to wait for another game. It was so good that it makes the game i waiting for boring.

I played Final Fantasy VII and though it was rubbish, then realised I had been playing it for four hours, so I gave it a chance, I had hundreds of hours into the game, played it many times over, maxed materia, got all the skills and ultimate weapons, all the summons and a gold chocobo, I love the remake but, breaking it up into chunks and keeping players dangling, waiting for the next instalment is hell, I waited years for this.

Okay so i was really disappointed with Remake, is this game actually that much better?

Wasn’t a big Final Fantasy fan as a kid. I just recently got into it with Final Fantasy 16, which I loved. Just wished this games combat was like 16. Feel like I’m just smashing Square

What's the learning curve of the combat system? I really don't like and don't have the time, if I'm being honest, to "study" games for hours just to learn how to play. Is it easy to pickup and go?

Im playing on PS5/Graficmode and I must say that the grafics is a little hard for my eyes.

Never played a FF game. Never really cared about the universe. But I must say, the fighting mechanics look fantastic. Might actually get it.

Do you need to play remake before you play rebirth or can you just jump straight into rebirth.

One question do we need a stragey guide like back in day lol.. I know it's probably a dumb question but that was actually another fun thing when I was a kid reading up on areas I had difficulty with. I know I know it's 2024 but it's the kid in me 😊😊😊.. I'm excited

if I was let down by REMAKE should I ? My biggest gripes were story obviously and party stuff. Like it felt like I was playing a solo action game trying to mascarade itself as a party game. Your party does do anything beside taking dammage and their ATB is so slow to build I didnt get why. I know I'm mean't to switch between them but idk it breaks immersion for me why are they so passive when I don't control them. I'm hoping synergy helps with that but the footages that I saw so far didn't gave me much hope.

I have ignored everything about this game(as much as was possible) up until now because I'm burned out on hyped games falling flat. I was always going to play it because I'm a life long FF fan, but this looks too good to be true... Yet apparently it is true. So here is a dumb question, if you hated the remake is this better or worth it? I especially hated the bad dialogue/writing and the bland level design. Combat and such was mostly okay past some filler questing. Is this better? Do they fix it?

I remember when I first played Remake and thinking back to when I was a kid playing the demo on ps1 and just being blown away. Super excited for this and probably anyone in their 30's probably feels the same way.

Over 5 hours of card game play... Wow, love it! I loved triple triad and the excitment of getting new cards

Just reinstalled remake, gonna ay that through again on ps5 with the extra Yuffie content and then head on into this. That's the next few months gaming sorted.
