"This is a primal scream, if you will, of the people in Venezuela that's been building from some time," says Eric Farnsworth, Council of the Americas vice president in an interview with Al Jazeera about the growing anti-government protests in Venezuela. Farnsworth explains that with the expanding demonstrations, Leopoldo Lopez has emerged as the unofficial leader of the opposition movement, though it's unclear how he and the newly active opposition will try to get the current government out of power. "Whether that comes through the electoral process or whether it comes through some other process...the next election for president of Venezuela won't be for more than two years and I think a lot can happen between now and then," he explains.
