Playing as a marksman in Morrowind vs Oblivion vs Skyrim

The worst enemies in Skyrim are anybody wielding a bow

Skyrim Mage: Drinks one potion and then nukes everyone in Tamriel with a cloak spell.

Sneak kill the mage enemy
Resurrect them using conjuration spell
They summon their own atronach/or resurrect the fallen enemy

Fun fact you can actually stop magic projectiles in Morrowind by hitting them with arrows.

I actually enjoyed archery in Oblivion. I had played Skyrim first and obviously went stealth archer and once I picked up Oblivion anniversary edition I built a stealth archer. It did take some getting used too for the trajectory of shots but once I got it it did decent damage. I especially liked all the variety of arrows you could get, especially the bone ones in Sheogoraths realm. I remember spending days just exploring his realm

Nubs. Shield+mace.

It took YEARS, but I finally broke the stealth archer gaeas as a heavy metal arms man. Worth it. Still got to keep a bow too.

The main benefit of going Marksman in Morrowind is the ability to oneshot Cliff Racers outta the sky before they even notice you.

Finally did a just straight heavy armor heavy weapon build in skyrim and had way more fun with it than I thought I would

I have never done stealth archer.

I default to two handed heavy armour.

I'm actually running a stealth archer build in Morrowind rn - have still become a ridiculous op god of magic tho. Boots of Blinding Speed + a custom constant 8pt levitate ring, shooting a near never ending supply of area effect arrows down to the earth with auriels bow (that i speedran to ghostgate for at the start of the game lmao)

That's the worst one yet. Oblivion marksman was beyond insane. Perma x64 DMG.

Am I the only Skyrim player who loves being a berserker then? Stealth Archer was just so maddeningly slow for me.

I just started a new Skyrim playthrough. I am legit staying heavy armor, no sneaking, and 2H the entire time on Legendary. I admit, I often tend to go off script on my playthroughs and notice I'm suddenly a stealth archer again. This time I'm only using bows to hit far away targets or flying/perched dragons; but in combat, not sneak attacking. I found out 2 things so far:

1) It is way more fun than stealth archer. Mainly because it feels like a much faster way to proceed through the game because you aren't crouch-walking everywhere.
2) 2H/Heavy Armor is just as powerful as Stealth/Archer on Legendary difficulty for most of the game. Each way of playing is better in certain situations, but that is part of using a different build.

Plus, you don't have to have the dissatisfaction of having the "high ground" as an archer and trying to shoot someone below you, just for your arrows to just hit at your feet instead of the target.
OR
having the kill cam go off to only have your arrow completely miss.
OR
to have the enemy Spider-Sense and dodge your arrow even if they haven't even detected you yet.

It was finally time for them to shine.

The only build more powerful than stealth archer is conjuration/illusion archer

Meanwhile I'm sneak arching guys in their beds at the companions quarters, with only the occasional muttered comments while they slept in response.

Love the archery in this, especially when you drop a nice distant target.

Oblivion arrows were nowhere near that fast.....

The only thing I don't understand about Marksman in Oblivion is how in oblivion people fail to see that this is the easiest build to cheese.

When I was just a brainlet playing Oblivion on the PS3 I realized that Marksman has a lot of potential if you also have Mysticism, Sneak and Alchemy. Sneak you get for the obvious 6x damage. Mysticism you need in order to give the bow 1s of Soul Trap on hit and whatever damage bonuses you can stuff into the bow. For the finishing touch, you need Alchemy to brew a Paralysis and Damage Health poison. Once you reach Marksman 100, you can discard the Paralysis effect from the poison, because you will be dishing out this effect reliably during each stealth hit for a comparable duration. This way, you just sit duck and shoot everyone out and Bob's your uncle.

Am I the only one who never played a stealth archer in my 100s of hours?

I actively avoid being an archer because my first 500 hours or so I solely played as the stealth archer build.

And then you try archery in Kingdom Come. So sure you'll be a god of arrows. XD

I normally knock an arrow or cast a spell and then engage in melee, lol.

Archery is actually pretty decent in Oblivion.

Would you believe me if I say that I completed Oblivion and Skyrim without firing a single arrow? I didn't even use any weapons or fists.

Don't forget 100% Chameleon in Oblivion. Actually you could do one on the most broken abilities in each game, like the infinite alchemy grind in Skyrim.

I remember in Morrowind when I was better at marksman I could one shoot most of the enemies by crossbow. The most important thing is to have silver bolts.
