Michael Parkinson is only 39 in this video. Why did people look so much older back then 🤷🏻‍♂️

My goodness Burton smoked! Parkinson should not have allowed the smoking. I had to stop watching the interview cause of the incessant smoking. Such a shame

Well Burton can't do impersonations that's for sure. Bloody ridiculous, but he was a talented man nonetheless. Parkinson, a complete fraud of person.

Parkinson was a prat then, and especially now!!
The great Michael Parkinson, who by some fate conned his way onto our screens. How he became the great of interviews I'll never know,he's total rubbish at small talk, and his inferiority of his betters shows through.
How this fool, and it's dreadful wife took our screens hostage, will forever be praised as the great interviewer. B,s .

They filmed the interview at noon instead of the evening because Burton would be drunk by than. That’s why Parky was casually dressed and the audience was the canteen staff!

Richard Burton:
excellent voice, great stage presence, not so hot on film. He just wasn't a movie actor.
And maybe the competition was - shall we say - 'less aggressive' ? in those bygone days.

Brad pitt and Angela were sometimes refered to Richard an Liz. That is very far from the truth their acting abilities dont't hold a candle to their talent.

A SAD WASTE. He drank and smoked because he had no discipline, and couldn’t deny himself his hedonistic pleasures. He boasted about drinking two bottles of hard liquor a day, starting at midnight. What a fool. He also slept with lots of women, including wives of his friends, behind his friends backs. Stewart Grainger for instance who was his friend, and who’s wife Jean Simmons, Burton screwed in Grainger’s own house, while Grainger slept in the next room. Hence he was hated by both the British acting community and the Hollywood executives and producers, who’s wives he also screwed or tried to. Hence he was denied any Oscar. He lived entirely for himself and to satisfy his pleasures. He even slept with an underage school girl, and almost got caught. He didn’t give a damn about hurting all his wives by being a serial adulterer, and then lying to them to cover his arse. He was completely without morals. I used to love his acting when I was young, but now I detest people like him. Good riddance.

Incredible actor. Incredible. But I've never agreed with his famous quote "never trust a man who doesn't drink". That, to me, is an alcoholic trying to justify his alcoholism.

First of all, so-called "Richard Burton" is not his real name. I think it's a disgrace and shows complete disrespect of one's heritage to change their birth name, unless when a woman gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her last name, that shows no respect to her husband. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the name "Richard Walter Jenkins Jr"! The change was probably made as a result of pressure from a greedy Business Manager and or Studio, with respect to perceived anticipation of greater recognition and subsequent monetary gain?!
