Never ever my Janome will do this twin needle stitch. I tried everything, it keeps on tightening the fabric(any kind)

I'm thinking twin needle work could be useful making quilts. Going to try it.

I'm 64 years old & have been sewing for over 50 of those years. 😊 I've used twin needles multiple times with no problems. ...Unil now. I'm needing to use a fairly wide (4.0) twin needle. I cannot for the life of me make it work. My dear husband even bought a new machine. The left needle either skips stitches or barely picks up at all. I've tried adjusting the tension, top & bottom, and it hasn't gotten any better. I bought new needles in case I had damaged the first one. I have tried it on both Brother & Singer machines. I have repositioned needles to the left & to the right. Is 4.0 too wide for home sewing machines? Can you offer me any advice or instructions? Anything would be greatly appreciated. 😢

more basic sewing question concerning twin-needle - where does the 2nd thread get attached, and how do you thread the machine if the machine with 2 threads?
I've avoided even trying the twin needle as I could not find the answer for this before coming across all these wonderful sewing tutorials online!

when I make the seam with the twin needle, instead of increasing the tension on top, I slack the tension underneath so it does not make the bump on top

Thanks for the video. It would have been helpful to see you adjusting the tension because until I read the comment below, I assumed it was the foot tension, not the bobbin tension that needed adjusting.
Also, I'm surprised there is no link to Organ Needles. Do you have an affiliate link for them?

I may have misunderstood but I think you said "wing needles" instead of "twin needles". Those are very different things in English.

Do you have to use 2 different thread for the twin needle (1🧵),or ( 2 🧵🧵) my machine only has 1 spool holder

What about the thread you should use or shouldn’t use, threading your machine and threading the needles themselves? I have 2 spool holders but I’ve never threaded my machine with 2 threads. Any warnings or tips?

Had one come with my last sewing machine. Had no idea how to use it. My first sewing machine sewed forwards and backwards. Zig zag was just for the rich back then.

I think it is important to note that the tension you are primarily adjusting the bobbin tension. On my bernina, this means tightening the screw on the bobbin case.

This is fantastic. I gave up on the Coverlock machine as I now have an old singer that does a chainstitch and I finally worked out I could use a twin needle to hem my knits to get the same stretchy effect as a coverlock machine and I was even working out the importance of tension but you have given me SO many good tips and more ideas besides. I am so excited to try them and make better hems on my knits. I'm even going to try pintucking for decorative pillows!! What a fabulous idea!

Great tips but yes how do you keep the second thread in place, it keeps popping out , and above the needle holder the two threads become tangled 🙂
