Full Tilt Boogie Band was a strong energetic band. Big Brother was like her basement band by comparison . They made a couple of good records (if that was them playing on the record). This is wonderful because Janis is not fully formed in performance and we get incite into her musical history. She clearly was wishing the band would hit it harder.

The harmony w Big Brother and the Holding Company's unbearably expressive nd painful feeling is so incredible it hurts too much! I was so lucky they played at ucd dances often, and I and friends saw them at Fillmore East later. But here I hear the instruments clearer and the grief in the song. I love Big Brother n the Holding Co. and Kozmic Blues Band and others. Whenever I would come home after braving the snobs of North Berkeley to buy food, I put on the record and say, "They probably wouldn't like her either" and I heard Sunroof Cadillac on the radio.

I agree with Peggy Casserta about her death. She tripped on her shoe on the carpet and hit her face on the nightstand and that killed her. Not overdose. She took a potent heroin but would have died instantly. That damned carpet cause her to fall. Her nose bled as she was unconscious and she asphyxiated from the blood
