I come back to these videos over and over, they are really good.
I sat at home, getting hungry. I knew what I had planned to cook but really didn't have the energy to, felt like ordering. Realized it's silly when I have food, but I want something filling and quick.
Realized I have those sausages I don't like and bread. Frying those sausages and seering the bread on one side, I soon had hotdogs.
Your inspiration and way of thinking saved me around 10£.
Hats off.
I love these challenges...but boy, your food is cheap compared to Canada
ОтветитьPerhaps the wet pancakes with caramelized bananas and a dollop of yogurt for breakfast? I'll be taking on the spaghetti champagne. Thanks Shrimp
ОтветитьThe tablecloth u wearing fits perfectly to your plate design :P
ОтветитьI have been low carb for a while. Fried radish is actually a good substitute for fried potatoes in the low carb community because they get a similar texture and lose their sharpness.
ОтветитьPasta with cream/yoghurt + fruit is very common in poland, my favourite is kluski z truskawkami... yum. Milk soup with pasta or pierogi with fruit filling and yoghurt drizzle are common as well. So I wasn't all that surprised by your banana spaghetti haha
ОтветитьTry the breakfast pasta from the movie "Elf"
Ответитьas an Italian, I find your cooking videos endlessly interesting. I can't speak for every Italian, but I only get "upset" about pasta ""abuse"" when it comes from a place of ignorance. Pasta is a traditional food and has a design behind it that has been refined over the years to get the best results when prepared a ceartain way. If one is unawere of this and are still trying to get the traditional result, I feel like critiques and advices are warranted. But if you are not trying to do something traditional, then I see no problem. On the contrary, I use your channel quite a lot for inspiration. Traditional recepies are always good when prepared correctly, but the ingredients aren't always available, so experimentation is often the only way to still get tasty meals, especially on a budget. I really like the way you approach cooking, it's inspiring!
ОтветитьYour banana 🍌 and spighetthi thing confirms you need sectioning. Great video keep up the good work
ОтветитьCinnamon with pasta, banana, and yogurt would have been good.
ОтветитьSome cinammon and honey in that pasta wouldve made it a treat
ОтветитьHave you thought about possibly attempting a WW2 food ration challenge or something similar?
Ответитьi think it may be a good idea to add "try" to the text that just says "overcome difficulty" i think the trying and not definitely succeeding part is pretty important
ОтветитьMy Cooker has the same tilt.
ОтветитьDo it for someone vegan with GERD and osteoporosis. 😆
ОтветитьAs a Canadian, these prices make me feel doom. Our grocery prices are so much of the average household cost. Im so jealous of all these wonderful deals you find. Its like a pleasure of mine to watch these videos and see what you can make do with. But it really does illuminate the dire situation here in Canada.
ОтветитьLikely somebody said it already, but in case they didn't - sweet pasta is a thing (regrettably :P). When I was a kid one of the school lunches was pasta with twaróg, strawberries and smetana (and probably some sugar with the smetana and strawb mixed in as well, they would be pretty sour otherwise). To me it was strictly worse than having the same things with crepes instead of pasta, but hey, maybe it's something to look into as a starting point if you want to try to make it work.
ОтветитьI've always put radishes in my casserole and they are really nice as part of a roast veg medley
ОтветитьThe captions on the video say they were added manually, but they appear to be auto-generated, why is this?
ОтветитьBlending cooked pasta with water makes a sort of dosa batter. Using a very hot pan with a melted fat with the very thin dosa type batter added makes a flat, crispy edged dosa/crepe that can be filled.
ОтветитьBut maybe she hates shopping its all good❤
Ответитьoh, mama mia!!
Ответить"but when have I been sensible", from the most sensible man I've ever seen.
ОтветитьAldi is the best
ОтветитьTHERE IS NO WAY YOU JUST BLENDED PASTA INTO BANANA YOGURT SHAKE!
Ответитьpersonally, a flavor that comes to mind, caramelized banana, caramelized green beans, and fried radishes with a teaspoon of the yogurt mixed with a equal measure of sugar and drizzled over the top. of course, when I did it i cooked left over green beans in the fat of a pork rib that my mother had given me. A rib mind you that someone had smoked to the point where the meat resembled in nearly every way pine tree bark after a forest fire. Using citrus and yogurt got the smoke to come out a little at a time, and it turned into one of my favorite flavor/texture combinations. Fatty, tangy, savory, sweet with citrus and smoky notes.
ОтветитьI haven't said Eeeewww so much since I was a kid. Wow, man. Creativity like this requires a cast-iron stomach to go with it. I salute you, even if I won't emulate you. 🫡😳
ОтветитьWe have Aldi here in Australia, it’s much cheaper than the other stores we have (Cole’s & Woolworths) since the other stores have been jacking prices up
ОтветитьI think your main mistake was to blend to pasta. Fried pasta, pressed into form to make a flatbread is not that strange and deff. works. Also works with rice btw
Ответитьthese videos are so interesting, and kinda just wanna make me wanna make weird food with more allowances. like, maybe next time i make anything, i should find ways to include pasta??
ОтветитьI reaoly wanted those flatbreads to work. You seen like a great dude!
Ответитьits like 5 dollars a pound for hamburger in the states for the cheap pack
ОтветитьMouth watering dishes absolutely yummy
Ответить"That's enough waffle" sir that's a pancake
ОтветитьThis is the first video of yours I have watched. Your voice sounded familiar, and the comedian Mike Wozniak came to mind! I wonder if you're both from the same neck of the woods...
ОтветитьI know this post is about Aldi, but here in Germany Lidl have bags of fruit and veg that might or might not be past its best, which they sell off for €3 per bag. They don't always have them, and they may contain a load of bananas and grapes and not much else, but we got a really good one yesterday with about 4 kilos worth of stuff, and a good variety of items. We also got a Too Good To Go bag full of goodies from another store, for €4, so unpacking that lot was like having our own private Harvest Festival 😅 I've made a batch of chutney today, and have ratatouille on the menu for tonight, corn on the cob tomorrow, and have also frozen some things, ready chopped for later use, as well as having apples, mandarin oranges, avocados and pineapple to eat fresh. You've probably already spoken about these 'surprise' bags, but I just wanted to say they are worth looking out for, if people's local shops have them.
Thanks for your great ideas!
Did they not have frozen ground beef for fewer quid? I used to shop at Asda and Tesco and their frozen meat section was great. I live in the USA now and the frozen meat here is processed (chicken nuggets and such garbage). One difference between there and the US is our sizes are different (generally larger). I doubt I could buy the same set of items for less than $8.
Pasta porridge! Actually if they had some completely green bananas which are starchy you can boil those and puree to make porridge and sweeten with the ripe ones and then add the yogurt to make them creamy. Banana porridge is a common breakfast food in Jamaica. In fact I would suggest utilizing some "ethnic" starches like cassava or yam flour to make things like fufu. Dunno if Aldi (I would think Tesco and Asda would have them) sells them but your African friends can tell you where to find them and they're dead cheap and easy to prepare.
Pasta pancakes = epic fail 😀 but chili on spaghetti is completely acceptable so that would've been completely doable.
when i was littel we dippt radishis i melted butter and the salt it really good
ОтветитьWhy is there a GB flag on every 3rd item?
ОтветитьI was expecting Barry Norman to pop up after that music, talk about a film and say ‘and why not?’
ОтветитьAs a German I can tell u I looove Aldi, as soon as I‘m back home I wanna try this challenge but in eighter vegetarian or vegan for a chance
ОтветитьHe’s not going to blend that spaghetti is he…….omg yes he is 😱
ОтветитьBloody hell food is cheap in the UK
ОтветитьThanks to your videos, I decided today to go to a discount supermarket in my city, Brussels. I finally started seeing here prices under 1 euro like you under 1 pound. I brought home a huge backpack and a big bag of products for under 30€. I'm going to start experimenting as you do. I cannot believe I didn't go one such supermarket before, taking into account how high inflation is here.
ОтветитьOne idea for a challenge: take a country different than the UK, use one supermarket app and try to create a menu for a given amount, for example 3€ (without buying the products, just looking at the prices). Then buy those products in the UK and cook, and compare the prices.
ОтветитьI do wish people would see fat free yogurt for what it is, highly processed trash that’s almost certainly unhealthier than some naturally occurring fat
Ответитьi remained in pure disbelief while watching this video
ОтветитьPlease try a challenge without sausages.
