I won't say he torn me apart. My karma was tearing me. I was tearing me. It was only me in who was responsible. What Sadhguru did was, he stayed with me consistently despite of my consistent foolishness. I even don't know whether he or the grace chose me. But I have tasted the grace in midst of a sea of pain. In his presence, yes, I am growing. I have seen that moment (like a flash) where it was very hard to distinguish myself from the omnipresent life. Sadhguru does not tear anyone. He is just adamant in remaining with his disciples as far as I believe. He is a doorway to Shiva for sure!

No individual can select his or her GURU....when a disciple is ready GURU comes and picks him up. If you think you choose your Guru.... that's just an ego relationship. Guru Shishya relationship happens without the willingness of the disciple. This video makes me laugh.

I would say this…a live Guru is best, but the presence of Sadhguru is beyond the physical body he keeps. Also, some books are also consecrated and can be helpful according to the time and context, like The Mystic Musings and The Bhagwatgeeta. They can guide according to time.
But yes, live guru can expedite the whole process and can also act as the mental support in times of weakness for a shishya or devotee.
