This movie is so fked up. Been years since a movie made me actually GASP in disbelief. Highly recommend this movie.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie with as many illogical decisions made than in this one. Literally every few minutes, the characters on the screen would start doing or saying something that would make everyone watching verbally ask, “…what…?” Straight room temp IQ decisions and dialogue. Stop praising bad writing because it’s paired with OK special effects.

Great film, but about the goat scene, did the goat have something in particular that caught the couple's attention? I didn't see nothing uncommon about him...

It just came out in Portugal, I didn't even know he had made terrified, but I did know. There are some "Easter eggs" that confirmed my suspicion even before i confirmed it with this video

I’ll be honest, I’ve been putting off seeing this since October, because of all the reviews. Not much gets me, but people warned, even those with strong dispositions may have a tough time with this one. So I strapped in last night and caught the film. I can say with certainty it’s one of the first films in a long time that made me feel generally uneasy and anxious for the full runtime. I agree with your points on no one having plot armor, which is ridiculously refreshing. The practical effects were awesome, for those that wanted a linear explanation of how the events came to be probably a little disappointed but for those like me, who like piecing together from minor clues, I thought it was expertly done. Ultimately I think it’s one of the best horror films I’ve seen in years and agree with you wholeheartedly Chris.

The thing is that in terror, Hollywood is not doing great jobs. The woke agenda is really strong in this days

The second half of this movie was a massive disappointment. They turned the whole thing, every last trace of uncanny, disturbing possible outcomes into a trope infused circus. Also, the acting in some scenes is atrocious. I don't see why there's so much hype, it's a 7/10,maybe 6.5

Good horror lies in the unexpected. Not just gore. This film makes even old jaded jaws drop.

Literally all Pedro had to do was listen. That's it.

This a movie about everything you must not do to survive and they still do it in the most dumbest and desperate way possible. This movie didn't scare me, because I was fighting with all the bad decisions the actor made.

Great first 45 min, then worst character progress I have ever seen. After the first 45 min, just unwatchable.

Chris you must have watched a different version of the movie than me. The second half of this film had little gore or scares.

I was shocked when he killed his son at the end. So insane. No happy endings here! Great movie.

Overrated. I dug the practical effects, but the story was lackluster. I think people think it was so shocking because of the violence to young people. I didn't hate it, but it was just okay.

Loved the idea of this alt-world where demon possessions are mainstream and faith/churches are dead. Adds an extra creepy layer to everything.

I think it was not shown in theaters in my country so I just rented it last night and it left me with my jaw on the floor a couple of times. What a ride of a movie.

The rules seem quite loose and odd, specially in the beginning, and then the Mirta character introduces more rules and even devices to the whole thing and makes it feel like they made it up along the way. That's the only part that I feel could've been handled better.
BTW, I don't think a production from US would've included the dog biting and shaking scene and I'm certain they would NOT have hinted at demonic possession as explanation for autism. That is kind of "problematic" but it's all fantasy so I don't mind. Too bad some people can't tell the difference.

I just saw this last night and it does not deserve the 98% rating Rotten Tomatoes is giving it. It's a disorganized mess. Well acted but badly written.

I don’t understand these reviews for this movie. I am quite forgiving as far as movies go. I wanted to love this movie!

This director is really knocking it out the park. I loved Aterrados and this movie ramped up everything that was great about it.

Spanish Hughe Jackman made me mad

I was very invested in this movie, and absolutely love the spanish culture in it. I'm a huge gore junkie and enjoy the occasional shock factor scenes...... but this is the first horror movie i couldn't finish. If you know what i mean, it's hard watching children get hurt

I only have 3 complaints which says a lot about this movie.
I wish we got to see that contraption in action.
I wanted to actually see the mother die (in flash back because the reveal was amaizing)
The third is more of a compliment but I really REALLY want to learn more about this world and how it came to be.

LOVED this movie. Unique, disgusting, gruesome, shocking but amazingly told with outstanding actors/actresses.

idk if I’ve been desensitized from watching some dark messed-up films, but the only time I felt disturbed/disgusted was Uriel (I didn’t want to but couldn’t help imagine the smell and sounds which did make me feel sick, which is rare, so bravo). The goat, the dog, the crash, the “walk”, the ending were just not shocking, and for me somewhat expected. But again, I may have just watched too much stuff that certain outcomes were predictable or made sense for happening. And maybe Pedro unable to learn from his mistakes, being constantly ignorant, essentially all that happens being his fault was, I agree, infuriating and kind of ruined the film for me. Like “you’re doing this, so obviously (x) is gonna happen … oh look, (x) happened 😑”. I gave it a shot, but guess this just wasn’t the film for me and don’t think I’d bother giving it a second watch
