Can we just put Sam in charge of all of star wars from now on? This guy has a deeper understanding of the series than just about anybody I've seen. You can tell he really gets it, he picks up on so much of the stuff that even the people making these movies/shows miss

Here my take on this. Luke is the symbol of hope and the future of the Jedi. Not Luuke the clone from Legends. The character of Luke Skywalker was handled poorly.

I'm sorry with everything disney has put out for star wars its clear they were trying to kill off everything about it. Wether it was so they could reboot it so they would own it because of the contract with George or it was because they are morons either way it doesn't change the destruction. There are only a couple of good things disney did. Those are 10 min of rogue 1, rebels, and the first 2 seasons of the mandolorian. George is right studios ruin good things.

No one needed to see Luke in TLJ.

If you are going to make that kind of change, the story you are trying to tell has to be damn good - you can't tell some half assed story and that character needs to be key to it. That's the problem with Luke, he wasn't really that important in the Disney films and was more just a prop for the new characters. If that is how you want to use a character like that, the audience will reject it. Same reason why fans didn't like the Picard series - the changes didn't lead to anything important, they were just changes because they needed that for the series.

Please, make The Force Unleashed a movie!

30 seconds before the scene he references in ROTJ, Luke is fully enraged and beating the snot out of vader. There is no off-screen, fundamental character change.

Anyone who needed to see that version of Luke are morons. It added nothing to the story and ruined Luke as a character.

To respond to something you said. I don’t understand why there’d be people that NEED to see that version of Luke Skywalker(the sequel version) and why that’s legitimate.
It can be fun to play around with fictional characters, but there has to be a good reason to do so and I don’t believe what Disney had in mind(or, really didn’t have a plan at ALL)was a good reason. As kids, you could play with the toys and concoction all kinds of asinine adventures. You spend millions of dollars and commit it to film and it becomes canon? You better be sure because the fans will never let you forget you dropped the ball. If a group of people have such a need to see this kind of characterization, something new could be made fit THEM, right?
